WWI road trip - Day 01 (1) Dunkirk Cemet ery and Memorial, Dunkerque The Dunkirk Cemetery and Memorial commemorate the commonwealth troops that fought there in both World Wars.

WWI road trip - Day 02 (1) Langemark Cemet ery, Langemark Langemark Cemetery is a German World War One burial ground in Flanders, Belgium. (2) Passchendaele New Brit ish Cemet ery, Ieper Passchendaele New British Cemetery in Belgium is a First World War burial and memorial site. (3) Tyne Cot Cemet ery, Zonnebeke Tyne Cot Cemetery is a WW1 Commonwealth cemetery in Belgium and the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world.

(2) Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, Ypres The Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917 provides a comprehensive account of the Battle of Passchendaele, World War One.

WWI road trip - Day 04 (1) Sanct uary Wood Cemet ery, Zillebeke (2) Hill 62 Sanct uary Wood Museum, Zillebeke Sanctuary Wood Cemetery is a WWI Commonwealth cemetery containing the remains of soldiers who were killed in the region during the conflict. The Hill 62 Sanctuary Wood Museum contains an impressive partiallyrestored WWI trench system as well as artefacts and images from the site.

WWI road trip - Day 05 (1) Ploegst eert Memorial, Ploegst eert The Ploegsteert Memorial commemorates over 11,000 British and South African servicemen who died in this region during WWI and have no known grave. (2) Irish Peace Tower, Messines The Irish Peace Tower is an imposing 100-ft memorial to all First World War Irish casualties and remembers soldiers from both the Catholic and Protestant communities.

WWI road trip - Day 06 (1) Vis- En- Art ois Cemet ery, Vis- en- Art ois (2) Vimy Ridge Memorial, Vimy Vis-En-Artois Cemetery is a First World War burial site in Franceâ s Pas de Calais region. The Vimy Ridge Memorial commemorates the more than 60,000 Canadians who lost their lives in th First World War.

WWI road trip - Day 07 (1) Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval The Thiepval Memorial is a Commonwealth memorial dedicated to over 72,000 servicemen who died in the Somme region during WWI. (2) Ulst er Memorial Tower, Thiepval The Ulster Memorial Tower in France is a memorial to the men of Ulster who fought and gave their lives during World War I. (3) Newf oundland Memorial, Beaumont - Hamel The Newfoundland Memorial represents the best surviving trench system from World War One and commemorates the efforts of the 1st Battalion of the Canadian Newfoundland Regiment.

WWI road trip - Day 08 (1) The Somme 1916 Museum, Albert The Somme 1916 Museum explores the realities of the First World War Battle of the Somme. (2) Lochnagar Crat er, Ovillers- la- Boisselle The Lochnagar Crater is a large indentation in the earth in France where one of the explosions was set off which signalled the start of the Battle of the Somme. (3) Pozieres, Pozieres Poz ieres was the site of a major battle between Allied and German forces in 1916 during the First World War, forming the first part of the Battle of the Somme.

WWI road trip - Day 09 (1) The Chapel of t he Souvenir Francais, Rancourt The Chapel of the Souvenir Francais is a memorial to French soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Somme. (2) Somme bat t lef ields, Peronne The Somme battlefields in France are a series of sites where the Battle of the Somme was fought during World War I.

WWI road trip - Day 10 (1) The Franco Aust ralian Museum, Villers- Bret onneux The Franco Australian Museum in the Picardie region of France explores the contributions and experiences of Australian troops during World War I.

WWI road trip - Day 11 (1) Aisne- Marne American Cemet ery, Belleau The Aisne-Marne American Cemetery is a US World War I cemetery and the site of the Battle of Belleau Wood. (2) Cimet iã re Chinois de Nolet t e, Nolet t es Cimetià re Chinois de Nolette is a French World War One memorial site to the Chinese workers who contributed to the war effort.

(2) Chat eau- Thierry American Monument, Chat eau- Thierry The Chateau- Thierry American Monument is a World War I American memorial.

WWI road trip - Day 13 (1) Fort Douaumont, Verdun Fort Douaumont was one of the strongest, most state of the art forts in France at the time of the First World War. However, in 1916, it was destroyed during the Battle of Verdun and today it lies in ruins. (2) Louvemont, Bras- sur- Meuse Louvemont was once a French village, unoccupied since the Battle of Verdun, World War One.

WWI road trip - Day 14 (1) Fort Vaux, Verdun (2) Verdun Memorial, Verdun Fort Vaux was a French fortress occupied by the Germans in the Battle of Verdun. The Verdun Memorial is a comprehensive museum of the Battle of Verdun and a memorial to fallen soldiers set in the Verdun battlefield.
