Despiteusingcommercialdatabase,annualreports,balancesheetsandfilingover100Rightto Informationapplications,informationabout61projectswereunavailable.Hencethedataprovidedin thisreportisthatof125projects,withtotalcapacityof2,42,968mw. These125projectsarespreadin15states.Amongthe125,57arepublicsectorprojectsandprivate corporationsrun68. Thefiguresprovidedinthisreportarenotabsolute.Itistheminimumtheseprojectshavesecuredfrom differentfinancialinstitutions.lackoftransparencyandhidingbehindtheveiloffiduciaryrelationship betweenthebankandtheclient(thatisthereasoncitedwhilerejectingalotofrtiapplicationsby banks)preventsanypublicaccessorscrutinyoflending. Thereporthasused2014currencyexchangerateswhileconvertingthemintoIndianRupees. Development'of'powerHsector'in'India:'from'government'to'private' ' TheradicalrestructuringofpowersectorinIndia,witnessedsince1990s,setthegroundfortherapid expansionofpower.untilthen,thestatesandcentralgovernmentundertakingsdominatedpower sectorandtheyaccountedfor58%and32%ofthegenerationcapacityrespectively.privatesector accountedforonly10%.theindianelectricityact1910andtheelectricitysupplyact1948,alongwith StateElectricityBoardsregulatedthesector.
