Formerly the largest cotton mill in continental Europe, Spinnerei is today the site with the highest density of galleries in Germany. Leipzig s Old City Hall is one of the most beautiful Renaissance town halls in Germany. It was built between 1556 and 1557 in just nine months.

Hotel Accommodations According to JCI Leipzig officials, all World Congress official events will be held at the Leipzig Convention Center which is located outside city limits. All the unofficial parties and the like will be held inside city limits in the hotel districts. While there are hotels around the Leipziger Messe (Congress Center Leipzig), there is no nightlife in that vicinity. For delegates wishing to enjoy the Leipzig nightlife and the various after hours country parties, JCI Leipzig officials recommend a hotel inside the city corridor. Delegates may also find JCI hotel information at http://www.jciwc2014.com/ JCI USA Hotel JCI USA delegates have the option at staying at the JCI USA hotel with other JCI USA delegates. Novotel Leipzig City Hotel Rooms include either 1 queen and a sofa or two twins and a sofa. Rates $ 149.00 USD per night for the rooms Taxes and hotel fees are included the cost per night. Rooms include WIFI, desk, hair dryer, mini bar (extra costs if you use) and cable TV. Breakfast may be added for an extra cost. The Buffet is 15.00 per day or there is an option for hot drink, fruit, croissant and Danish for 7.50 per day.
Transportation Visas Visa are not needed to travel to Germany. You will need a passport. To obtain a passport, you can find forms at your local post office or online. Obtain your passport online. Air Travel The Leipzig International Airport (LEJJ) is the airport you want if you wish to fly directly into Leipzig. It may be less expensive to fly into Frankfurt (FRA) or Berlin (BER) and take a high speed train into Leipzig. Ground Transportation At World Congress, no sessions or events will be held at any hotel. All events and sessions will be at the Leipziger Messe (Congress Center Leipzig). Your registration package will include a ticket which will enable you to take the local tram from any station to the convention center. JCI will not be providing any shuttle service. All hotels are within short walking distance of a tram station. Travelers will find that it is easy to get around Leipzig using public transportation. The public transportation system is an advanced system made up of a network of buses, light rail rains and trams. Through use of this network of public transportation options, it is possible to reach all of the major attractions in Leipzig. Taxi Taxis can be easily hailed on the streets or located at all major tourist attractions. Taxis are, of course, more expensive than public transportation, but they are also efficient. They are all privately operated but rates should be fairly standard. All taxis are metered. More taxi info and contact. Currency Germany s unit of currency is Euro ( ). ATMs are available in many parts of Leipzig. - be sure to inform your bank before travelling abroad, and be aware you may be charged for cash withdrawals. It is advisable to exchange some cash before arriving in Leipzig. Many retail and restaurants take cash only in Germany. Dos and Don ts of Leipzig As with any new city and culture, being knowledgeable and respectful of the customs is key to enjoying your trip safely. DO make a copy of your passport and carry it with you, while keeping your actual passport locked up in the safe at the hotel. DO hit the ATM cash rules in Germany and many restaurants don t take credit cards. DON T jaywalk. Nobody else does, and you might get fined. DO shake hands when you re introduced to someone it s impolite not to. Do avoid dark isolated areas at night. Be mindful of your surroundings and enjoy the world of things to do in Leipzig.
