Environmental Explorer Week 5-7 s Bug Safari Discover the animals of Mop End. Explore the woods, pond and grassland and design your own super animal. Monday 1 st August Tuesday 2 nd August Creative Capers Explore and use natural materials to get creative in the woods. Including mud painting, leaf crowns and outdoor art. Enchanted forest Build miniature gardens using natural materials, create a magic potion, make homes for the Mop End wizard and make a magic wand to take home. Mowgli s Adventure Learn to speak to the animals and find the path to the missing treasure. Create natural maps, collect honey from the bees and escape from Shere Khan. Wednesday 3 rd August 8-11 s Mop End Mini-beasts Visit the ponds, woods and grassland and undertake surveys to find out about the wildlife of Mop End. Awesome Art Explore the wonders of nature and get creative with natural materials. Including clay, mud painting, leaf pictures and willow art. Bushcraft Take on the survival challenge: build dens, make rope from nettles, light fires without matches and cook some food on the campfire. Thursday 4 th August Friday 5 th August Jungle Adventure Train with your wolf pack, use your tracking and hunting skills to follow Akela s trail to the lost civilization and battle to save the jungle from the red flower. Young Naturalist Hunt for mice and voles in the woods, make your own mouse to take home, help us look after the habitats of Mop End and make homes for some of the smallest animals living in our woods. Conservation Ranger Check the moth and mammal traps, record animals for national monitoring surveys and help us conserve the habitats at Mop End.
Adventure Week 5-7 s Woodland Wildlife Adventure Can you find all the animals hiding in the woods? Look for tracks and signs, make animal masks and build an animal s home. Stone Age Discovery Hunt for mammoths and grind some food, design your own cave art and build a stone age shelter. Star Wars Adventure Travel through the galaxy and discover different planets, practice your lightsaber skills and try to defeat the dark side. Shipwrecked Could you survive on a desert island? Search for food and water, build shelters, find the hidden map and discover how to escape. Marvellous Adventure Make your own marvellous medicine, see how many dreams you can catch, compare your hearing to the BFG and design a new sweet. Star Wars: Mop End Join in Padawan training, build a droid, search for Ewoks and practice using The Force to save your planet from destruction. Thursday 11 th August Friday 12 th August Desert Island Challenge Follow the map and search for buried treasure, escape from the pirates, collect water and overcome the watery challenges! Fantastic Fantasy Find your way through the foxes tunnel. Work together to steer the giant peach, help Willy Wonka design a new sweet and defeat the fearsome beast with the minpins.
Activities for 11-14 year olds Naturalist Wednesday 10 th August Hunt for small mammals and their tracks and signs; pond dip and remove invasive plants from our habitats including cutting small trees down in the heathland. Bushcraft Skills Monday 15 th August Build dens in the woods, make some tools, take on the fire lighting challenge and do some cooking on the campfire. Prices Full day activities run from 9.30am-3pm unless otherwise stated and cost 24 Half days are available for the 5-7 age group, mornings only (9.30-11.30) at 12 Discounts 10% discount for booking a full week of courses and 10% discount for sibling bookings (maximum discount 20%) Extended hours 8.30 am -9.30 am 5 per child, 3 pm-5.30 pm 7.50 per child This gives you more flexibility with pick up and drop off times, to aid working and busy parents. Earliest drop off is 8.30am and latest pick up is 5.30pm. Please indicate your chosen hours on the booking form. Our staff will arrange a variety of untimetabled, free choice activities and crafts for the children during this time, and the children will be fully supervised. We will provide snacks and drinks for those staying after 3pm
Adventure activities for the whole family Bat Walk Tuesday 26 th July 8.30pm-10pm Come along for a fun evening in the grounds of Mop End! It will be a family-friendly opportunity to learn more about these amazing flying mammals. Look out for bats and learn how to use a bat detector to hear their calls Prices: 4 per adult, 2 per child (aged 8 years and upwards only). Children must be accompanied by an adult. BOOKING ESSENTIAL Summer Open Day Thursday 28 th July Drop in anytime between 10am and 3pm A day for all the family to enjoy being outside. Try out our problem solving and orienteering trails. See what you can find living in the pond and be creative with nature. There is no charge for this day and you don t need to book, just come along. Family Forest Play Wednesday 17 th August 9.30-11.30am (repeated 1-3pm if demand is high) Play in the woods to build self esteem and confidence and learn some transferable skills. Activities could include nature games, environmental art, bug hunting, woodland play, survival and bushcraft skills and tool use. Session will include a snack and drink and finish with a campfire. Prices: 7 per child ages 2+. Parents/ guardians welcome. Under 5 s must be accompanied by an adult. BOOKING ESSENTIAL
