With parks and basins spanning more than 2,000 acres, recreation centers, swimming pools, wheels courts, tennis facilities and golf courses, the Parks, Recreation and Commercial Facilities Department wants to help you enjoy Mesa to the fullest. It is our desire and commitment to provide a variety of facilities and opportunities to enhance the quality of life and well being of our community. This guide includes information about Mesa s parks, pools, and recreational facilities, maps and rental information, and rules and regulations. Park Rules and Regulations Park Hours: Sunrise to 10:00 pm, or as posted It is unlawful to conduct any of the following activities in Mesa parks or retention basins: Smoking under picnic ramadas Discarding litter or trash Having unleashed dogs in the park (except in designated off-leash dog areas) Hitting golf balls or shooting arrows Using any wind craft or boats Driving motorized vehicles in non-designated areas Using model aircraft, boats or cars without permission Repairing or maintaining vehicles Throwing or discarding any object or substance into lake or retention pond Swimming or wading in any lake or retention pond Possessing any glass containers Vandalizing or removing park property or wildlife Iceblocking Using materials other than charcoal for barbecue grills Advertising or soliciting goods or services Possessing or consuming spirituous liquor, beer or wine without a permit To report violations of the above, please call (480) 644-2352.

Picnic Ramadas In most Mesa parks, covered picnic ramadas are available to park users on a first-come, first served basis. Several parks contain picnic ramadas which can be reserved for a fee for gatherings and special events. To be sure a space will be available for your event, reserve your ramada as early as possible. Visit the park of your choice or view on-line at www.mesaaz.gov/parksrec/park and select a ramada that suits your needs. Note the ramada number (located near the roof) or the name of the ramada (located on a nearby sign). Ramadas may be reserved by phone with a major credit card by calling (480) 644-4271. Ramadas may also be reserved in person at the Parks and Recreation office at 200 South Center, Building 1, with a credit card, check or cash. Reservations are taken 8:00 am 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday. Reservations for Friday, Saturday, Sunday or a Monday holiday must be obtained by 4:30 pm the preceding Thursday. Rental fees are non-refundable and are due at the time the permit is issued. Ramada Reservations To reserve a ramada, you will need to provide the following: Time and date of the event. Approximate number of people attending. Special equipment or games that will be brought into the park. Caterers and any other outside companies if applicable. Special permits are required for any equipment brought into the park. This includes inflatables, moonwalks, generators, climbing walls, amplified music, bands and portable restrooms. Additional fees may be applied for equipment brought into the park. Caterers, moonwalk/bounce houses, vendors, etc., must provide proof of insurance to Mesa Parks and Recreation. Note: Possessing or consuming spirituous liquor, beer or wine is not allowed in Mesa parks, unless a beer and wine permit is obtained first. Permits are available for a fee in conjunction with a ramada or field reservation. Permits must be obtained a minimum of one business day prior to use. Beer and wine permits for Friday, Saturday, Sunday or a Monday Holiday must be obtained by 4:30 pm the preceding Thursday. Glass containers are not allowed. Sports Fields and Equipment Sports fields at most Mesa parks, including baseball, softball, flag football and soccer, are available for rent. All sports fields are rented for a minimum of two hours. After 6:00 pm, rentals are in two or four hour blocks only, subject to availability. Rental fees do not include softball bases or lining of the fields. To rent a sports field, a permit must be obtained by 4:30 pm at least one business day prior to use. Permits for Friday, Saturday, Sunday or a Monday holiday use must be obtained by 4:30 pm the preceding Thursday. Fees are due when the permit is issued. Sports equipment is available in the following packages: Family Sports Pak: basketball, horseshoes and stakes, volleyball and net, soccer ball, throw-down bases, softball, Incrediball and Frisbee. Football Sports Pak: football, flagbelts, cones Soccer Sports Pak: soccer ball, cones Basketball Sports Pak: basketballs, cones Volleyball Sports Pak: volleyballs, net Softball Sports Pak: softball bats, softballs, throw-down bases Sports equipment is also available for rent. A rental fee and deposit are due when equipment is picked up, with the deposit being fully refunded upon return of equipment in good condition. Dog Areas Mesa Parks and Recreation offers two off-leash dog areas. Quail Run Park, 4155 E. Virginia. Includes a 3+ acre designated off-leash dog area with lights. Closed on Thursday for maintenance. Countryside Park, 3130 E. Southern Ave. Includes a 1.2 acre designated off-leash dog area without lights. Closed on Tuesday for maintenance. The off-leash dog areas are completely fenced and feature areas for timid and active dogs, park benches, and drinking fountains. Owners are responsible for the behavior of their pets and for keeping their dogs under control. Dogs are welcomed in all parks, retention basins, and multiuse paths when controlled and restrained on leashes no greater than 6 feet in length. Owners of dogs shall immediately remove any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior that evidences a threat of imminent injury. Owners are required to pick up all dog waste.

Swimming Pools Rent a City of Mesa pool, and it s party time! A Mesa pool is the perfect place for your summer event, whether it s a corporate party, family reunion, birthday party or school gathering. Reservations for summer use may be made beginning on the first Monday in May.
