9 POINTS TO NOTE General transport policies As a large organisation in a congested city, Brookes has a responsibility to reduce its traffi c impact on the surrounding area as far as possible. Effects of car travel on a large scale include emission of greenhouse gases, pollution on a local level which can adversely affect health, and congestion, which in turn causes stress and slows movement of all road transport. Brookes Sustainable Travel Plan together with our Environmental Policy is a commitment to improve the situation; our commitment to the local community is a further reason to work towards a reduction in car use as far as possible. Brookes works with other local employers in Headington, such as the NHS Trusts and University of Oxford, in conjunction with the local bus operators and councils, to produce a coherent transport strategy so that traffi c congestion in this area is lessened. Information on travel options is available at: www.brookes.ac.uk/about/sustainability/ sustainabilityinpractice/transport Car parking The Harberton Mead entrance may be used for those requiring disabled parking. There is no public or student parking at the Marston Road site. Please note the Marston Road site is located within a controlled parking zone. This means that on street parking controls have been introduced by the local council to manage parking in the interest of the local community. Parking in the area is extremely limited and in most areas subject to specifi c restrictions.
