ABOUT THE SERVICE Davis Community Transit is an advance reservation, origin to destination paratransit service, provided to complement the fixed route services of Unitrans and Yolobus within Davis Service is provided within ¾ mile of fixed route bus lines in Davis We are operated by the City of Davis, and funded by the City of Davis and the Transportation Development Act WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO USE THE SERVICE? Paratransit service is provided to customers traveling within Davis that, due to a disability or health condition, are not able to use the fixed route service A personal care attendant (PCA) may accompany a certified customer at no extra charge if the customer s application states that one is needed One non PCA companion may accompany a certified customer and must pay the same fare as the customer Your ride will be shared with other certified customers; we are not a taxi service HOW TO APPLY Call our office to speak to the Paratransit Coordinator and request a Paratransit Eligibility application The application can be mailed, e mailed, or faxed to you, or you may make an appointment to begin one over the phone Applications must be completed in their entirety; incomplete applications will not be processed and will delay the certification process Applications must be reviewed and signed by a medical professional; our office can send it to your healthcare provider upon request

Once your application has been processed, you will receive written notice of your eligibility status Customers will be recertified every 3 years VISITOR STATUS Customers who are not Davis residents and ride less than 21 days throughout the year are not required to fill out the Davis Community Transit application To request visitor status, please be prepared to provide certification documentation from your local paratransit service If you are not a Davis resident but need to travel in Davis more than 21 days throughout the year you must fill out an application for Davis Community Transit MAKING RIDE RESERVATIONS Call the Dispatch Center 1 to 14 days before your ride request We cannot schedule rides more than 14 days in advance Rides must be requested no later than 5 pm the previous day Same day rides are given only if time and space permit We may schedule your pickup time up to 1 hour before or after your requested time If you have an appointment, please inform the dispatcher; pickups will be scheduled at least 30 minutes before an appointment in order to provide sufficient travel time Rides may be scheduled for any purpose and are not prioritized by destination or type of appointment PICK UPS & DROP OFFS Vehicle will pull up to the curb. The driver can help you on and off the bus, but will not enter your home, doctor s offices, etc.

If you require door to door assistance, it must be indicated on your application and must be requested at the time you schedule your ride There is a 20 minute window around your pick up time. The bus will show up between 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after your scheduled time, so you must be ready at the beginning of your pickup window The bus will only wait 3 minutes once it arrives RETURN TRIPS For Monday Friday rides before 5 pm, you must call the office to get a ride home when you are ready Wait times may vary depending on how busy it is when you can call and where the vehicles are en route Round trip or 1 way returns are scheduled only for rides after 5 pm or on the weekends CANCELLATIONS & NO SHOWS If you need to cancel your ride, you must cancel at least 3o minutes prior to your scheduled pick up time or it will be considered a late cancellation If you are not ready to board within 3 minutes when the bus arrives, it will be considered a no show A pattern of no shows and/or late cancellations will result in suspension of service; please call our office if you would like a copy of the policy SAFETY RULES Seatbelts must be worn at all times Mobility aids must not exceed the weight limit of the vehicle s lift, and dimensions cannot exceed 30 x 48 When using the lift, you will be picked up and dropped off where it is accessible

Driver will secure your mobility aid on the vehicle We are not an ambulance or cab service; drivers are not equipped to provide medical care No eating, drinking, or smoking on the bus Violent, disruptive, or illegal conduct will not be tolerated FARES $2.00 each way during regular service $4.00 each way during premium service; premium service occurs when Unitrans is not running and schedules may vary, so please call our office for days and times Rides will not be provided without fare being paid upon boarding; drivers do not provide change so have exact fare Multi ride tickets are available on a pre paid basis in values of $10, $20, and $40.
