The City of Suwałki the second largest city in Podlaskie Voivodship is situated: - in the north eastern part of Poland, - in the proximity of the state border with Lithuania, Russia and Belarus. Location

Project: Improvement of Public Infrastructure of Industrial Areas in Lithuanian-Polish Cross-Border Project was implemented together with the Lithuanian partner: Alytus City Municipality Within the project the following works had been carried out: Construction of Leśna Street Construction of access roads situated in the quarter between Leśna Street and Hubala Street (technical infrastructure) Construction of Poznańska Street (rainwater sewage system)

Project: Improvement of Public Infrastructure of Industrial Areas in Lithuanian-Polish Cross-Border Objective of the project: creation of favourable conditions for business development in cross-border region by strengthening business environment Project implementation period: August 2009 June 2011 Total value of the project: 6,27 mln PLN Cofinancing amount (Lithuania-Poland Programme): 5,33 mln PLN

Project: The 2nd Stage of Industrial Areas' Infrastructure Improvement in Lithuanian- Polish Cross-Border Project is being currently implemented together with the Lithuanian partner: Alytus City Municipality Small and medium companies located in the industrial area Papiernia will have significant importance for increasing economic and investment attractiveness of the city. Project implementation period: September 2012 February 201 Total value of the project: 285 735 EUR Co-financing amount (Lithuania-Poland Programme): 242 874,75 EUR

Eruropean Square in Suwalki II stage Project partners: Cherniakhovsk urban settlement and Guryevsky Municipal District from the Kaliningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation Project implementation period: January 2013 June 2014 Total value of the project: 1 288 612,48 EUR Co-financing amount:1 159 751,23 EUR (Lithuania-Poland Russia Programme)

Improvement of tourist attractiveness of Suwalki City by rebuilding Maria Konopnicka Square Ø It was organised an international architectural competition within Trans in Form project Ø The aim of this competition was to design the architectural concept concerning the reconstruction of a neglected park in an interactive public space of Maria Konopnicka Square in Suwalki.

Improvement of tourist attractiveness of Suwalki City by rebuilding Maria Konopnicka Square Project implementation period: September 2012 May 2014 r. Total value of the project : 9,41 mln PLN Co financing amount (RPO WP): 8,29 mln PLN

Main achievements and results of Trans in Form project The project had been implemented together with partners from Baltic Sea Region Main results: Prepared and issued common publications (Suwalki-Notodden) Participation in international events and workshops

TIF achievements and results Elaborated Scenario of development and improvement of the road network in Suwalki City Attractivity Barometer findings published to the policy makers and to the public in Suwalki Developed promotional logo and the Visual Identification System (VIS) of the City of Suwalki

Plans for future

Revitalization of the city Let s come back over the Czarną Hańcza river - Development of land along the Czarna Hańcza river The project involves creation of recreation places (walking-cycling paths, small gastronomy etc.) at Czarna Hancza river Implementation of the project will improve tourist attractiveness of the city

Revitalization of the centre of Suwalki city The enterprise will lead to the development of historic centre and tourist attractiveness of the Suwalki city

Revitalization of post-military areas The task will have positive impact of the Suwalki city image and lead to creation of new socio-economic functions for post-military areas.

Revitalization of post-gravel areas n The enterprise assumes the development of areas located at Staniszewskiego Street (recreation places) and Krzywólka region (motor sports)

Development and implementation of low-emision programme. Thermal modernization of public buildings (schools and educational objects) Purchase of low-emision busses for public communication Expansion and modernization of city heating plant and heating networks
