Experience the great outdoors in the mountains of El Empordà, on a tour by 4x4 specially designed for Mas de Torrent. Allow yourself to be immersed in nature, while feeling the adrenaline pumping through you. Breathe in the mountain air of La Garrotxa Natural Park with its spectacular natural surroundings and exceptional panoramic views of El Empordà, as well as its dormant volcanoes. In the middle of the day, enjoy a picnic in the midst of the breath-taking natural surroundings. Together with your gastronomic botany expert, you will be given the opportunity to study the plants used in Mediterranean cuisine in a way that is both informative and fun. More info... A mountain tour in a 4x4, specially designed by OWN Experiences, traversing the entire width of El Empordà from the Mediterranean Sea to the Garrotxa volcanoes. Guided by a private chauffeur and accompanied by a gastronomic botany expert, you will learn to identify the plants that are used in Mediterranean cuisine, their benefits and gastronomic applications, in a way that is both informative and fun. An excursion into the midst of nature that concludes with a visit to the two Michelin starred restaurant of Fina Puigdevall, gastronomic advisor of Mas de Torrent.
ITINERARY At 9.30am, you will be picked up at the hotel in a fully equipped, high-comfort 4x4. This trip, which has been specially designed for Mas de Torrent, invites you to explore the Empordà region, guided by your driver and accompanied by a botanical expert (who also happens to be an advisor to El Celler de Can Roca, the best restaurant in the world). Visit the delightful medieval town of Peratallada, before journeying through the mountains of La Garrotxa Natural Park, taking in the spectacular natural surroundings, with panoramic views of the entire Empordà and the dormant volcanoes of the Natural Park. This is a truly authentic, adrenaline-charged experience, combined with an instructive, but fun, insight into the culinary use of wild flowers and plants giving you an opportunity to taste the fruits of the forest as nature intended them. An exquisite breakfast enjoyed in the mountains gives you a moment to recharge, as well as to discover an ancient structure that was originally used as a calcium furnace. Between 2.30 and 3pm, your reservation awaits at Les Cols restaurant, which has been awarded two Michelin stars and is run by Fina Puigdevall, executive chef at Mas de Torrent. Once lunch is over, your driver will take directly you back to the hotel. DURATION The experience starts at 09:30 am in the reception of Mas de Torrent Hotel and ends at 06:00 pm back to the Hotel. AVAILABILITY The experience is available every day. The minimum age permitted for this experience is 12 years old or 135 cm high. We do not recommend this experience to people with some disability or muscles/bones pain. Possible cancellation In case of bad weather forecast; the experience will be rescheduled to availability or your payment will be returned in full. RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended you dress comfortably. If you suffer from any food allergies or intolerance kindly notify us in advance so we can take this into account for lunch.
