DAY 1: DEPART THE USA (Saturday) Fly to Fort de France, Martinique. Truly a little bit of France in the French Caribbean Islands. A Forum representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you by private motor coach to les Trois -Îlets, where your hotel is located. DAY 2: THE MANGROVE OF MARTINIQUE (Sunday) Meet your tour manager and enjoy a visit to the Pottery village. An authentic site of Martinique s heritage which main activity is the work of the earth Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Continue on to Marin, a town on the East Coast of the Island. Enjoy riding your Kayak while discovering the mangrove of the island. The Mangrove is a coastal littoral forest, amphibian, in a flooded part that is only found in the tropics. DAY 3: NORD BOTANIQUE (Monday) After, visit one Martinique s most famous sights, the Balata Gardens, to see why this is the Isle of Flowers. This private botanical garden is home to a staggering number of begonias, bromeliads, bamboo and about 300 different types of palm trees. It is now time to follow the Route de la Trace, a trail first used by Jesuits in the XVII Century. It leads from Fort de France to Morne Rouge and rich tropical forests with luxurious flora. Enjoy lunch with your group in a local restaurant. Then, visit of the city of St-Pierre which retains traces of the terrible eruption of Mount Pelee in 1902. The entire town was destroyed by the volcano and was partially rebuilt on the ruins left by it. Continue with a visit to the Musée Paul Gauguin. DAY 4: SCHOOL VISIT (Tuesday) Spend the morning at a local High School and meet local high school students. Lunch with your group at a local restaurant. Then participate in a Biguine Dance Class! Later you will visit the sugarcane museum, located in an old distillery. It traces the evolution of sugarcane during the last three centuries.
DAY 5: PLONGEE SOUS MARINE / COURS DE CUISINE (Wednesday) Embark on a boat ride for half a day and enjoy scuba diving. Divers of all levels are welcome for a wonderful diving experience. Explore Martinique s under water beauty and discover corals, colourful fishes and turtles among many other! Enjoy lunch with your group at a local restaurant. This afternoon, you will partake in a local cooking workshop. Learn to Cook the Creole Way and taste delicious dishes! DAY 6: FORT DE FRANCE (Thursday) After breakfast, get to know the unknown Fort de France while following your local guide on a guided walking tour of the city. Stroll in the Grand Marché in Fort-de-France. Beneath its vast metal and glass canopy, you ll be welcomed by an explosion of colours and scents. Enter the Bibliotheque Schoelcher, a Romanesque- and Byzantine-style library and architectural wonder (designed by Gustave Eiffel, after whom the Eiffel Tower was named), was built for the Paris Exposition of 1889. In 1895, it was shipped, piece by piece, to Fort-de-France and reassembled. Lunch with your group in a local restaurant. You will then discover la savane des esclaves, an old-time village with its huts and traditional plantations dating from the 1800s. It s in the heart of these homes that you will have the chance to delve into the history and traditions of Martinique. DAY 7: GORGES DE LA FALAISE (Friday) After breakfast, head to the spectacular site of The Gorges de la Falaise. A walk along a river built between two huge cliffs. The "Gorges de la falaise" are located in a region of dense forest. Following this walk you will reach a natural paradise, magnificent waterfalls with crystal clear waters. The walk along the river is approximately 30 minutes, and then enjoy swimming in the waters! The gorges of the Cliff are located in the Ajoupa-Bouillon near Mont Pele. Enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel. DAY 8: DEPART (Saturday) Today after breakfast, board your private motor coach and transfer to the airport for your flight back to the USA.
