Name: ( ) Class: Reading Read the following article. 5 10 15 20 Saving Ocean Park For a number of recent years, Ocean Park has lost money. Even though it has built many new rides, the number of visitors continues to fall. What is the reason and what can be done to return Ocean Park to profitability? Over 60% of the park s visitors come from mainland China. A couple of years ago, people from the mainland were inexperienced travellers. Now they travel widely and they expect to see new and interesting things, explained a local travel agent. Many people feel that Ocean Park has lots of fresh air but no fresh ideas! I think Ocean Park should have more animals, said Jody Wong, a Form 1 student at Sha Tin Secondary School. I m very interested in animals but my mum won t allow me to get a pet. I think there should be a pets zoo so young people can touch the animals and learn how to look after them. I like going on the mechanical rides, said Susan Smith, a tourist from London. However, the rides here are quite boring. Also there are fewer rides than places like EuroDisney in Paris. I love the Disney characters. I m looking forward to going to the new Disneyland on Lantau Island. Does Ocean Park need more animals or more rides? Although Ocean Park has built a couple of new rides in recent years, future attractions will probably focus on animals. When Ocean Park opened, it was a place where people could have fun and learn about ocean animals, said a spokesperson. In the future, we will build fewer rides and develop more animal attractions.
