A student guide to accommodation 2017/18

Welcome I would like to extend a warm welcome to all prospective students. Here at Accommodation Services we are committed to assisting students in the transition from home to university life. We offer support for both new students and those returning to our accommodation for second and subsequent years. The University offers accommodation in University owned and University Partner halls of residence at various locations throughout Birmingham. All University halls are offered on a minimum 39 week contract; University Partner accommodation is offered on a minimum 40 week contract unless otherwise stated. The range of accommodation we offer includes standard and en suite rooms, suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate students. For students with special requirements we have accessible purpose-built rooms at some of the halls of residence. Further information is available on request. I hope you find this booklet helpful in terms of giving information about accommodation at Birmingham City University. For up-to-date information please visit our website at www.bcu.ac.uk/accommodation. Jane Grimmett Assistant Director Estates and Facilities

Am I eligible for accommodation? If we are able to assist, you must apply online by 31 August 2017. Students who live within a 10-mile radius of the study campus but meet the other guarantee criteria will be made an offer of accommodation subject to room availability. We regret that it is not possible for us to guarantee a room at your preferred location. On-campus accommodation is normally given to students whose courses are based on or close to the campus in question subject to availability. When can I apply for accommodation? You are able to apply for accommodation through the online accommodation application process from March 2017 provided you have accepted an unconditional or conditional offer of a course at Birmingham City University. You may also wish to contact the Disability Services team in Student Services for advice and assistance on 0121 331 5588 or email disability@bcu.ac.uk.

NB: to avoid any delay please ensure you frequently check the progress of your online application. You will only have three days to accept your room offer. When will I know I have been allocated accommodation? You will receive an email from Accommodation Services informing you that you have been offered accommodation.
