Its mandate is to provide Logistics Information Management support and services. This involves providing an information platform for the gathering, collating, analysis and dissemination of logistics information as well as Commodity Tracking and Prioritization services. UNJLC operates under the custodianship of WFP which is responsible for the administrative and financial oversight of the Centre. UNJLC is funded from voluntary contributions channeled through WFP.
Customs Info - Humanitarian Aid - Duties & Taxes Exemption and Customs Clearance EMERGENCY RESPONSE International Conventions Haiti is a member state of the World Customs Organization (WCO), having ratified the Convention establishing a Customs Cooperation Council on 31-Jan-1951. This Convention entered into force on 4-Nov-1952. The only international body of Customs law that contains a specific chapter binding states to facilitate the work of intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations in implementing humanitarian assistance is the revised Kyoto Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures (with its Annex J-5 on the Special Procedure for Relief Material). Haiti has not signed/ratified this Convention. They also have neither signed nor ratified the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency which entered into force on 26-Feb-1987. They have, however, signed (on 11-Feb-1999) but not ratified the Tampere Convention on the Provision of Telecommunication Resources for Disaster Mitigation and Relief Operations. Regional/National Agreements and Memberships Haiti is a member state of the World Trade Organization (WTO), having joined on 30 January 1996. The WTO helps trade flow smoothly, freely, fairly and predictably. Its roles are: Acting as a forum for trade negotiations Administering trade agreements Settling trade disputes Reviewing national trade policies Assisting developing countries in trade policy issues, through technical assistance and training programmes Cooperating with other international organizations More information can be found at www.wto.org. Haiti is a member state of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The Inter-American Development Bank provides loans and grants to help finance sustainable economic and social development projects and to support strategies to reduce poverty, expand growth, increase trade, investment and regional integration, and promote private sector development and modernization of the state. This is primarily in the Latin American and Caribbean region. More information can be found at www.iadb.org. They are also a member state of the Organization of American States (OAS). The OAS is the region s principal multilateral forum for strengthening democracy, promoting human rights, and confronting shared problems such as poverty, terrorism, illegal drugs and corruption. The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) is a regional intergovernmental organization that groups 26 Latin American and Caribbean countries. Its objectives are 1) to provide the Latin American and Caribbean region with a system of consultation and coordination for the adoption of common positions and strategies on economic issues in international bodies and forums and before third countries and groups of countries; and 2) to foster cooperation and integration among the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
