Late additions to the 2016 Notes From The Gang 10/01/16 September 29, 2016 Hey Patrick, I just realized that tomorrow is CDC Reunion Lunch day. Say hi to all the old gang. Hope that your weather is good for the day. I am headed to Portsmouth Island with our church men s group for the weekend. Only about 26 of us this year to do some surf fishing, good food eating, and some bible study. This is 12 th year of doing this. I don t go every year, especially when we are visiting in MN in September. Only problem this year may be the weather. It was supposed to be a sunny weekend but, as of today, it may be a rainy, stormy weekend. Have great time catching up with all of those who show up for the reunion. Bob (Horton) Here is Dennis Thiesse e-mail address. dennis.thiesse@sbcglobal.net. Please add him to your CDC list. Dennis is a very long term CDC employee. He came to the USAF Satellite Test Center in the early 60's. He was so young looking his nickname was "Kid". Extremely good trouble shooter on the 160 and 3600 systems. Enjoyed working with him. By the way, got my antelope buck opening morning in Wyoming. 1 shot. Haven't missed in 45 years. Don't know if you knew Pat Walden. He was a 6000 guy at the data center and development center. I park my motorhome in his driveway every year. Bill Wendt Tony Wilson s reply after he heard about all the rain in Minneapolis. Hi The thing about rain in Oz (Australia) is that the next day you don't know that it rained. The 28" occurred when I was in Townsville and it was exciting while it lasted. One of the girls in the aquarium sat on her fridge to stop it floating away. There was one death, rather sadly a paraplegic
stalled his car in the water and, of course, couldn't get out. There was a guy who slipped and fell down a storm drain. He was washed under the whole town and dumped out at sea where he swam back into shore, none the worse for wear! I did volunteer work in the aquarium and when I drove to work the next morning I noticed that there was a hole in the road, maybe 6" or so in diameter. I didn't think much about it but later that day the council came along with a backhoe, dropped it on the hole and the entire road collapsed into a massive crater. I had driven over little more than tarmac! Basically, you can't compare tropical rain i the tropics with rain in other parts of the world. It's expected here and the land deals with it because most of the year we are in a drought. Cheers, Tony (Wilson) Dolores Bauer was unable to attend this year because her son was here from Utah. I expect she ll be there next year. PRJ Dennis Denning was unable to attend this year because he had a knee replacement, and his brother was here from California. I expect he ll be there next year. PRJ I received the following email from Deanna Miller. I would feel much more comfortable if I had confirmation regarding the following names. Particularly: Doug Bonde, Don Briggs, Charles Hawley and Bill Miller. I am also giving very serious thought to dropping this part of the Super Lunch project. If so, I will still continue to send out the names of people who pass away in the future, but I will no longer maintain the Deceased Database, and will no longer send out names of people who have died some time ago.
= = = = = Just an FYI I was looking over your attached Deceased List but my attached list has names that were omitted on your list. Saw Dennis & Sharon last spring and caught up on some of the happenings. Warren Veazie New email: wveazie475@gmail.com September 15, 2016 I am having eye surgery on Thursday September 22nd, I see the eye Dr. on Sept. 29th. I may or may not be able to make the Super Lunch depending on how things go. I haven't missed one yet, so I hope to be there. Mike (Doyle) September 15, 2016 Hi Pat and all, thank you for helping to keep us all up to date on activities related to CDC of the past and the employees. Another year passes so quick. Sharon and I are fine. We enjoy our time at home working in the yard and garden, visiting family and doing nothing. In the winter we go to Mesa, Arizona to our place Park Model with an Arizona room. There we spend our time having fun, no yard work, but lots of time for social hours (time for a glass of wine), and other activity outside. When you walk a block to pick up the mail, plan on an hour, as you will undoubtedly see someone who has a story or other to talk about. We remember to never ask how a person feels. Then it would be another hour. All in all, life is good. We are happy. We enjoy looking at the photos of those who attend the lunch. Maybe, we will make it next year (of course that will require being able to find our way around after many years of being away from the twin cities.) Bob (Hardy)
