Areopagus Christian Heritage Tour of Britain Monday 26 September - Wednesday 5 October Day 1: Monday 26 - Leave Atlanta for the United Kingdom Day 2: Tuesday 27 - Arrive at London, Heathrow Airport where your hosts will meet you. After checking into our Hotel in central London we will leave for a City Cruise down the River Thames. We will then visit the Tower of London. Riding the red double decker bus we will attend Evensong in St. Paul s Cathedral. We will finish the day with a wonderful fish and chip dinner close by.
Day 3: Wednesday 28 - We will visit the ancient city of Canterbury and the magnificent Cathedral. Back to London for the Carole King play Beautiful on the West End stage. Day 4: Thursday 29 - Today we will spend in Oxford where with C.S. Lewis visiting his home, his church and Magdalen College where he taught for many years. We will also visit the Martyrs Memorial and St Mary s Church where Cranmer was tried. Dinner will be at the Eagle and Child where the Inklings met. Return to London in the evening. Day 5: Friday 30 - This morning we will visit the British Museum and Library with a Christian guide. This will be followed by a Christian tour of the National Gallery.
Day 6: Saturday 1 - Today we will travel from Kings Cross Station by train to Cambridge where we will participate in a Christian Heritage tour of the great city where the English Reformation began, followed by time to punt or explore the city for the afternoon. Dinner will be at a local restaurant before leaving to return to London. Day 7: Sunday 2 - Today we will attend church at All Souls, Langham Place, in central London. A walk through St James s Park to see Buckingham Palace will follow. This afternoon we will enjoy afternoon tea at the Orangery in Kensington Park, and then visit Speakers Corner in Hyde Park. Afterwards we will walk past Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament. Supplementary: spectacular view from the London Eye will end the day Day 8: Monday 3 - A highlight of the entire visit to Britain will be the Christian Heritage tour in the City of London. This will be followed by a visit to Bunhill Fields, the non-conformist cemetery where John Bunyan, Isaac Watts, John Owen and many more are buried will follow. A day of rich church history will be rounded off with a visit to John Wesley s chapel and house.
Day 9: Tuesday 4 - There will be an opportunity for going to Bible Study Fellowship this morning followed by shopping in the afternoon. Those who do not wish to shop will go to the Imperial War Museum. We will finish with a treat: dinner in central London and another visit to London s West End for the record breaking London production of Les Miserables, a great story of the graciousness of God and its effects. Day 10: Wednesday 5 - Fly back to the USA. Supplementary Tour: Scotland Day 1: Friday 23 - Leave the USA for London, UK Day 2: Saturday 24 - Arrive at Heathrow Airport and fly directly to Edinburgh where we will check into our hotel. The afternoon will be spent with a visit to the Royal Mile and into Holyrood House where Queen Elizabeth stays when she is in Scotland. We will then have a wonderful Scottish dinner before an early night.
Day 3: Sunday 25 - The morning will start in worship with a Free Church of Scotland congregation, which will be followed by a visit to Edinburgh Castle. In the afternoon we will have a Christian Heritage tour of Edinburgh. Dinner will be on Prince s Street where we will have a spectacular view of the Castle. Day 4: Monday 26 - Today we will visit Loch Lomond and Sterling Castle and also the famous William Wallace Memorial. In the evening we will return to London where we will stay at a hotel at Heathrow airport for the night awaiting the balance of the party arriving tomorrow. What is and is not included: The cost of the basic tour will be $2095.00. This includes ground transportation, hotels (superior tourist class), Specialist Guides, breakfasts, and tips. This is based on twin sharing. A single supplement applies of $700.00. Does not include airfare, lunches or dinners or the London Eye. The supplementary tour cost of Edinburgh is an extra $800.00. The deposit is due on the 15 November 2015, and the balance due on 15 April 2016.
