AIP New Zealand ENR 5.1-1 ENR 5.1 PROHIBITED, RESTRICTED, AND DANGER AREAS 1 SPECIAL USE AIRSPACE 1.1 General 1.1.1 Airspace within New Zealand s territorial limits, and airspace for which New Zealand has accepted responsibility under international agreements is prescribed by CAR Part 71, Designation and Classification of Airspace. 1.1.2 Special use airspace is prescribed under CAR Part 71. Specialuse airspace does not alter the airspace CAR Part 71 classification, but is superimposed on such classes. Special use airspace rules must be considered before CAR Part 71 classification rules. For example, active restricted and military operating areas have precedence over controlled airspace and GAAs where they overlap. 1.1.3 Special use airspace is depicted on ENRC, ARC, VNC, VPC, IAC, some departure and aerodrome charts. 2 PROHIBITED AREAS 2.1 General 2.1.1 There are no prohibited areas in New Zealand airspace. Effective: 17 NOV 11
ENR 5.1-2 AIP New Zealand 3 RESTRICTED AREAS 3.1 Description 3.1.1 Restricted areas are established within NZ sovereign territory (up to 12 nautical miles from the coastline) in the public interest, aviation safety or aviation security, or for national security. The public interest includes areas protected for conservation (fauna) purposes, and special events. Safety reasons include areas prescribed for police or search and rescue operations. 3.1.2 Aircraft are not prohibited from operating within a restricted area, but may only enter an active restricted area with the prior approval of the designated administering authority. Pilots must not enter an active restricted area in anticipation of entry approval. Restricted areas are depicted on charts with the designation R (followed by a number), as the prefix NZ is omitted on aeronautical charts to reduce clutter. 3.2 List of Restricted Areas 3.2.1 Restricted areas, with geographical co-ordinates, are listed in the Air Navigation Register. 3.2.2 A list of restricted areas (not including geographic co-ordinates) is provided in Table ENR 5.1-1. Effective: 25 NOV 04

ENR 5.1-4 AIP New Zealand 4 DANGER AREAS 4.1 Description 4.1.1 Danger areas are established to warn pilots of an area where danger to aviation may be present. A danger area requires pilots to have due consideration of the danger present within the area prior to entering, but does not require approval from any agency. 4.1.2 Danger areas are depicted on chartswiththedesignationd---. 4.2 List of Danger Areas 4.2.1 Danger areas, with geographical coordinates, are listed in the Air Navigation Register. 4.2.2 A list of Danger areas (not including geographic coordinates) is provided in Table ENR 5.1-2.
