Installation instructions Installation and repair are only to be carried out by an expert! The Therme is designed for pressure-free operation. In order to enable the pressure, which builds up during the heating up procedure, to escape, there is to be no non-return valve installed in the cold water supply between Therme and submergible pump. When connecting to a central water supply (city mains) or when using stronger pumps, a pressure reduction valve must always be installed to prevent that pressures above 1.2 bar develop in the Therme. In addition, a safety/drain valve (accessory, part no. 70141-10) must be installed into the cold water supply line. Only tap fittings with electrical switch are to be used! Water supply When installing a water supply into the vehicle, please ensure that there is an adequate distance between the water hoses and the heat source (e.g. heater, warm air duct). A water hose may only be fitted at a clearance of 1.5 m to the heater on the warm air duct. The Truma hose clip SC (part no. 40712-01) can be used if this distance is observed. In the case of parallel installations, e.g. openings through a wall, a spacer element should also be attached (e.g. insulation) to prevent contact. Choice of location Select an installation location near the heater (not in the installation space behind the heater). If there are two bleeding points (fig. B), please select an installation location where the hot water pipes can be as short as possible. Installation of the Therme Place the Therme on the floor on its mounting supports and bolt down into place. Insert hot air hoses at both sides. If no hot air supply is to be connected, seal both air connection fittings using the VD sealing cap (part no. 40353-01 not included in scope of delivery). Fitting the draining and venting valve Draining and venting valves must be fitted in the immediate proximity of the device (max. hose length 40 cm), at a point which is the most readily accessible for the user. To guarantee total emp tying of the water content, both water lines must be laid so as to slope down to the valves. There shall be no claims under guarantee for damage caused by frost! Drill two holes, diameter 11 mm, in the floor of the vehicle and secure the valves (1 + 2) with 2 screws each. Connect the connection nozzles (3 + 4) and the valves (1 + 2) to the water hose, dia. 10 mm (max. length 40 cm). 9
If it is intended that both hot water connection nozzles should be fitted, the venting valve (1) can also be connected by means of a T-piece (fig. C: 5 max. hose length between connec tion nozzles and bleeding valve 40 cm). Water connection The Therme can be installed in already existing systems with a single tap, as shown in fig. A, with a Truma mixing valve (part no. 40020-00300 not part of the scope of delivery) or as shown in fig. B, with pre-selecting mixing tap(s). All hose connections must be secured with hose clips (also cold water)! All connection fittings are designed for 10 mm hoses. Using the hose clips SC (6; part no. 40712-01 not included in scope of delivery) it is possible to route the water hoses on the hot air pipes, providing protection against frost. Clamp the hose clips under the clips of the hot air pipes. They can also be used for fastening the water hoses to the wall or floor. Installation of the Truma mixing valve The Truma mixing valve is equipped with a backflow preventer towards the pump. Only possible with fittings with electrical switch. When using several single-tap fittings, a pre-mixing valve must be installed for each one respectively! Fig. A Drill a hole with dia. 16 mm in the vicinity of the tap (15), on a flat surface of the wash basin, sink or vertical wall in front of it always higher than the actual Therme, vertically align mixing valve using the two nuts and fasten in such a way that the upper nut (7) is approximately level with the end of the thread. Mount control knob (8), screw on and turn to the left, up to the stop. Apply marking on the wash basin in such a way that this is level with the end of the red symbol on the control knob of the mixing valve. Routing water pipes with the Truma mixing valve Fig. A Connect the mixing valve connection from Therme (9) to one of the upper hot water connection nozzles. Connect the mixing valve connection to Therme (10) to one of the two lower cold water connection nozzles. Connect mixing valve connection pump (11) and submergible pump (12). Connect mixing valve connection tap (14) and water tap (15). When using other pre-mixing valves, always observe the respective instructions! 10
Routing water pipes with pre-selecting mixing tap(s) Fig. B Connect right-angled hot water connector (3) to equipment hot water connector. Connect cold water connection fitting (4) to cold water connector on equipment or submergible pump (16). Control panel When using control panels which are specific to the vehicle or the manufacturer, the electrical connection must be established in accordance with the Truma interface descriptions. Any modification made to the Truma components pertaining to this will lead to the invalidation of the guarantee, as well as to the exclusion of any claims for liability. The installer (manufacturer) is responsible for providing instructions for use for the user as well as for identification printing on the control panels. Fig. D When selecting the location, observe the fact that the control panel (17) is not to be exposed to direct heat radiation. The length of the connecting cable (18) is 2.5 m. Electrical connection 230 V The 230 V electrical connection must always be made by an expert (in accordance with VDE 0100, part 721 or IEC 60364-7-721, for example, in Germany). The information given here is not intended as instructions for you to carry out. It is for assisting the expert assigned to carry out the job, acting as auxiliary information when connecting the appliance! Connection to the mains is effected by means of the cable, 3 x 1.5 mm 2 (e.g. hose line HO5VV-F) to a distribution socket (not included in the scope of supply). A connection cable with a mains plug os not permissible. Always pay attention to use the correct colour code! For maintenance or repair work there must be a disconnecting device on the vehicle for all-pole disconnection from the mains with a minimum contact gap of 3.5 mm. Install splitting box (fig. A: 23) in the vicinity of the appliance, on the vehicle floor or on the wall (length of cable 150 cm). If it is not possible to instal the control panels flush with the surface, Truma can provide a surface-mounting frame (19) on request, as a accessory (part no. 40000-52600). Drill a hole with 55 mm diameter. Feed the cable through to the back and secure the control panel (17) with four screws (20). Then fit the cover frame (21) on and lay the cable to the Theme unit. Truma offers side parts (22) in eight different colors for finishing the cover frames (21) in a visually pleasing way. Please ask your dealer. 11
Connect the control panel cable, 230 V lead, and heating element cable as shown in the circuit diagram. Function check The water connections must be checked for leaks and all functions must be tested as described in the operating instructions after installation. Then it must be ensured that all of the water (5 litres) drains when the system is emptied. There shall be no claims under guarantee for damage caused by frost! The operating instructions must be handed to the owner of the vehicle. 1 = Control panel 2 = Supply line 3 x 1.5 mm² 3 = Heater element 4 = brown 5 = green 6 = blue 7 = yellow 8 = white 9 = yellow / green Warning information The yellow sticker with the warning information, which is enclosed with the appliance, must be affixed by the installer or vehicle owner to a place in the vehicle where it is clearly visible to all users (e.g. on the wardrobe door)! Ask Truma to send you a sticker, if necessary All cables must be secured with cable clips! 12
