There are many sites that you still have time to visit, such as the Musee d'orsay, the Musee Rodin, The Picasso Museum and the Musee Carnavallet. Here are 2 half-day options if you are looking for ideas: 1. Latin Quarter. Start your tour with a visit of the Luxembourg Gardens for about 45 minutes. Then head to the Place du Pantheon and tour the Latin Quarter where the Sorbonne is located (30 mn). Walk to Place Saint-Germain des Pres, heart of the Parisian classical neighborhood. Take the Hop on and Hop Off bus to the Musee d'orsay for a visit. (2 hours). 2. Marais Start your tour at the Place des Vosges, the oldest and arguably the most beautify of all Paris squares. Walk 15 minutes to the Musee Carnavallet, rich with Paris history, and one of the best museums in the city. (1.5 hour visit). Continue walking towards the Seine and go the the Sainte-Chappelle, which displays some of the most striking stained glass artwork done in the middle ages. (1 hour visit). Page 10 of 16 DAY 4 Guided tour of Versailles A UNESCO world heritage site, the Palace of Versailles was the home of Kings Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI and their court from 1682 until the French revolution in 1789. Accompanied by your guide, you will discover the Palace of Versailles, a symbol of royal power: its baroque architecture, sumptuous decor, artwork and furniture made by the greatest artisans at the time. you can then enjoy some free time to wander around the French formal gardens surrounding the palace. You will leave our agency situated in the center of Paris for a 45 minute train (RER) journey to the Palace of Versailles along with your guide. Entrance to the Royal Palace of Versailles You will be given a guided tour of the Palace of Versailles allowing you to immerse yourself in French royal life. It is spread out over a surface area of 67,000 m² and made up of more than 700 rooms. You will be able to access the most beautiful rooms in the palace without having to queue: the king s apartments with their 7 living rooms decorated on the theme of a god, the salle du Sacre and the majestic Hall of Mirrors, a reception room designed by renowned architect Jules Hardouin- Mansart. Page 13 of 16 DAY 6 Visit of the Loire Valley Castles from Paris Visit the most famous Loire Valley Castles on your own with an audio guide through each of the following châteaux: the stately home Château de Cheverny, the charming Château de Chenonceau and the majestic Château de Chambord. Experience what life was like during the Renaissance period in these royal french residences. The tour starts at 7:15am at our agency in the center of Paris, where you will take a luxury air-conditioned coach across the beautiful french countryside. You will arrive in Cheverny, the first stop on your trip, after roughly two and a half hours' drive. You will visit the lovely and currently occupied Château de Cheverny on your own for about an hour and explore the magnificent, extremely well-preserved interior decor and its 17th century furniture. You can take this opportunity to have a short stroll through its beautiful gardens. You will then get back into the coach and head off to the Château de Chenonceau, about 45 kilometres from Cheverny (30 miles). This 16th century castle, called "the ladies' castle", was built, run and embellished by aristocratic French ladies like Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medicis. You will explore the stunning Château de Chenonceau with an audio guide and discover the fairytale architecture that is visible from the River Cher. Admire the refined floral rooms, paintings, tapestries and fascinating kitchens housed in the piers of the bridge that supports the Château. After lunch, you will visit the last castle of the day - the impressive Château de Chambord - which is an hour from Chenonceau. Enjoy the audio guided tour of one of the biggest châteaux of the Loire Valley, built by Francis I in 1519 with the help of Leonardo da Vinci. See the famous, striking double helix staircase and admire the panoramic view from the castle's terrace overlooking the grounds and its sea of chimneys.
