No change of clothing before the Klondike race -- you must wear what you have been wearing all day 4. You must have a day pack on the sled for each member of your patrol: extra clothing, socks, gloves, hat, Water 5. Each patrol will consist of a minimum of 4 Scouts to a max of 8 6. Each patrol will bring their own hot lunch. No cold lunches! A cold lunch will slow down a Scout's digestion and activity level. 7. All Patrols will follow the Leave No Trace policy 8. All patrols will have at least 3 copies of their roster with them to start the Klondike (see last page) 9. All Scouts will have Honesty, Kindness, and Scouting Spirit with them 10. Tie Breaker will come in form of question on the Klondike Flyers 11. All troops will supply one adult leader to help staff the Klondike. Registrations will begin at 8:00 AM Finally: Have fun together, and enjoy your Klondike! Sled Inspections The sled inspection is to ensure that you have all the equipment needed to participate in the Klondike and to make sure you are properly dressed. No one who is not properly dressed for being outdoors will be allowed to participate in the Klondike. This includes footwear: NO SNEAKERS! Scoring for Stations Each Station will carry a maximum score of 20 points and will be totaled together for a maximum score of 120 points. The first 3 places will receive trophies for both Boy Scouts and Webelos. BUT you must be present to receive a trophy.

Description and objective: Fire Building - Cooking Your patrol has been out collecting firewood (it is now in your 5-gal. bucket). It is cold and getting colder. One of your members just fell into the creek, is wet and cold, and getting much colder very quickly. You realize that you are far from your camp and cannot wait to get back to camp. You need to warm him up as quickly as possible and give him food. That means building a fire. The only member who remembered to carry his personal survival kit is the victim, and that has the only method of starting a fire that you have with you. You hope that his kit survived the fall in the creek! Prepare the wood for a fire using the items from the survival kit, a hatchet and pocketknife. Firestarters must be from natural materials. Build and light the fire quickly. Prepare Bisquick Shake n Pour Pancakes according to the directions on the container. Make six to eight 4 inch pancakes to feed the members of your patrol. When the pancakes are ready to eat the cooking, objective is met. Extinguish fire. Objective of event is met when 6 8 pancakes are properly cooked and fire is put out.
