Inspiring Moments A World Apart The story of travel involves more than a ticket and a passport. It should weave together discovery, education and humanity, the best elements of any compelling tale. Your personal travel story begins with our commitment to delivering authentic experiences with local people. The incomparable value of your journey lies in the personalized care you receive from your Travel Director and the knowledge you gain from expert guides and lecturers, who call this area home. By eliminating logistical worries, your multilingual Travel Director allows you to immerse yourself comfortably in your surroundings. This high-caliber professional makes you feel safe and important by creating a convivial, welcoming atmosphere. The other important characters in this story are the guides and lecturers, whose regional expertise shines in their insider perspective and commentary. From Genoa, the great medieval maritime power, to the picture-perfect hamlets of the Cinque Terre, the Italian Riviera tells its captivating story as you discover the unique heritage of this special area of Italy. > Witness vistas of the Cinque Terre as you cruise the lapis waters of the Ligurian Sea. > Watch the Italian Riviera sunset melt into the sea. > Savor a special seaside lunch at a waterfront restaurant in Vernazza. > Imagine life in the Middle Ages, when Genoa ruled the seas. > Discover Michelangelo s favorite medium, Carrara marble, at its source. > Step back in time in Lucca, a Tuscan Renaissance jewel. Above: Manarola, Cinque Terre Cover photo: Vernazza, Cinque Terre Seaside lunch

Washington University Alumni and Friends, Join us as we explore the Italian Riviera, one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, on the Ligurian Sea. This beguiling region offers both soul-stirring vistas and scenes of daily life in charming seaside towns. Sip red wine, relax in medieval piazze and take in the views that have inspired artists and writers for centuries. Travel by land and sea to villages along the Ligurian coastline. Witness brightly colored towns that seem to spill down the sides of the steep hills and breathtaking panoramas in Cinque Terre National Park. Visit the storied city of Genoa, which boasts an architectural legacy borne from its days as a powerful maritime republic. This trip combines the ease and value of group travel with opportunities for independent exploration. Enjoy the camaraderie of the group and, during your free time, feel the thrill of making your own discoveries. Space is limited to ensure maximum traveling comfort, so we encourage you to make your reservation today! Sincerely, The Washington University Travel Committee John Fox Arnold Marilynne Bradley, BFA'60 Martha Cunningham, AB'65 Kent Hirschfelder, AB'67, MBA'70 Gail Lewin, JD'76 Mike Long, AB'60, JD'62 Tom Lowther, JD'62, MA'99* Sandy Rothschild, AB'67, MBA'71 Ann Ruwitch Joseph Sheehan, BS'02, MS'06 *Chairman P.S. The Washington University Travel Committee strongly recommends that you purchase travel insurance for every trip on which you plan to embark. Unforeseen circumstances may cause you to cancel your trip at the last minute, and travel insurance will help to ensure that your fees are refunded. Washington University does not offer its own travel insurance, but you may purchase a policy through AHI Travel. Corniglia, Cinque Terre
