About Bergen The name Bergen comes from Bjørgvin, which means the green meadow between the mountains. The city was founded 900 years ago on a green plain. Bergen is the city between 7 mountains and Norways second largest city with 278.000 inhabitants. The city has spectacular and divers nature, cultural and culinary experiences which will make it easy to get that WOW-feeling. AS BOLAKS - fish farming in the famouse fjords (this option is for those staying at SOlstrand Hotel & SPA) The founders of AS Bolaks were highly skilled fishermen and they could never have dreamed that so much would be achieved from the creative experimentation and establishment of the company in 1975. They had knowledge about and respect for the sea, the willingness to take a risk, a clear focus on doing things right and a solid dose of elbow grease and fighting spirit. The next generation perfected the foundation and made AS Bolaks into the successful company it is today. Fish health and welfare is always a main focus and an important foundation for the quality of the fish. To achieve the most secure production, each fish generation is produced in its own fjord system. AS Bolaks is in continuous dialogue with the veterinary community. This gives us added security - both in terms of current production and future planning. They have approval after GLOBALG.A.P. the standard of their production. Price per person NOK 370,- Duration: The trip will take about 2 hours depending on how many participants. This excursion has a maximum of 35 seats and conducted by at least 15 participants. Option 2 in Bergen Explore the archipelago, fjords and worlds leading company at aquaculture. (This option is for those staying in Bergen centre) For 40 years, the aquaculture industry has gone from a small nutrition to one of Norway s most important export industries. It contributes to local value creation in coastal Norway by producing and supplying fresh, healthy and good food to the whole world. Since the precursors of Marine Harvest started in 1965, they have gone from a small entrepreneurial company to the world s leading aquaculture company. Marine Harvest have the entire production from the grain grain until dinner is put on the table in Japan. Through their commitment to research, Marine Harvest is developing future solutions for fish farming and is an important driver for innovation both in Norway and internationally. On board a RIB Boat you get to discover the archipelago and fjords in the best way! The tour will depart from the city centre of Bergen in RIB-boats and continues for fish farming visit. Then you cruise through the fjords to an island in the archipelago where a local soupe and brad is to be served in an old authentic boat house. During this trip, you will experience the authentic life of a local Norwegian and listening to stories about the area and sealife. Option 3 in Bergen Ulriken by night (this option is for those staying in Bergen) Sky:skraperen Restaurant serves local and traditional food with a modern touch, accompanied by a panorama view over the city and Vidden. Ulriken By Night is a unique dining experience presented in a series of different servings. Ulriken643 Panorama Tour will take you to the top of the mountain by cable car. The breathtaking scenery on the top of the mountain will give you a full view of beautiful Bergen surrounded by sea, fjords and hills with all its glory. Ulriken is the highest mountain of the 7 mountains surrounding Bergen city. A perfectly made 3-course meal will be served at 643 meters above sea level.
