Rediscover the Old Caribbean at Cabier Ocean Lodge Grenada s Hidden Treasure Cabier Beach, Cabier Ocean Lodge and Two Bays Villa & Studios Cabier Ocean Lodge has been described as Grenada s hidden treasure - but a pot of gold is certainly not needed to stay there. Cabier is near the village of Crochu on the beautiful east coast of Grenada, about 45 minutes from St George s and the airport and 20 minutes South of Grenville. Cabier Ocean Lodge and Two Bays are on a promontory surrounded by water on three sides. On one side is a perfect white sand beach with a clear calm sea, on the other a shallow bay, used only by a couple of small fishing boats and a family of pelicans. Ahead is the open sea with the waves breaking against the reef which gives calm water in the bay and protects our beaches. In the distance behind Cabier are the mountains covered with rainforest. There are no other hotels near Cabier so you will be staying in a completely natural environment, but with all the modern comforts that you might need. High season is from mid - December to the end of April, although temperatures in Grenada remain fairly constant at 26 30 degrees all year round. Although the summer months are rainy season there is lots of sunshine as showers are usually heavy, short and often happen at night. Early August is Carnival time, when Grenadians from all over the world return home for a week long party with stunning parades and lots of music and street food. There are also other festivals and regattas throughout the year.
Cabier Ocean Lodge itself has 11 rooms including a two-bedroom family apartment. All rooms are en suite and range from apartments and larger superior rooms with cooking facilities to simple but comfortable standard rooms. All rooms have a sea view and 10 of them have verandas. Finished in sustainable hardwood, with wide folding doors opening onto deep shaded verandas, it is designed to remove boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, with swing seats from which to enjoy the wonderful views. Cabier restaurant serves breakfast, light lunches and table d hôte dinner. An à la carte menu for lunch or dinner is also available on request. Guests can relax in loungers and hammock on the headland where the lawn slopes gently down to the rocks and the sea or down on the beach. What to do at Cabier Many of our guests want to do little more than float in the warm sea, sit on their veranda or on the beach. The more energetic can enjoy snorkelling in the sheltered waters round the headland and the reef, or strolling along the paths that wind around the beautiful east coast. Cabier runs a selection of tours as well as local trips. Most places of interest are in the centre or east side of Grenada so are within easy reach of Cabier Nature lovers can see pelicans, frigate birds, egrets, herons and humming birds and ospreys without stirring from their veranda. Bruno is happy to organise trips to the magnificent rainforest that covers much of central Grenada, to see (and swim in) waterfalls, beautiful flowers, birds, butterflies, and monkeys. Other trips are to rum distilleries and to Belmont estate to see cocoa produced, gardens and museum. The capital St George s has the prettiest harbour in the Caribbean with shops, market, and restaurants. It is also possible to combine a stay at Cabier with a live-aboard trip round the Grenadines in a catamaran as well as sailing day trips.
Your stay at Cabier is hosted by Iris and Bruno Delvallée and their local team. They both speak fluent French, German and English. They have many years of experience running restaurants and hotels. Bruno s cooking is a fusion of Caribbean and European dishes, using ingredients purchased locally whenever possible, including the delicious locally caught spiny lobster. Iris runs the hotel and the bar, her rum punch and cocktails are memorable How to get to Cabier and getting around There are direct flights to Grenada from the UK (BA and Virgin), Canada and USA. It is also possible to fly via Barbados and Trinidad. Situated up on the East Coast in a natural environment, Cabier is not difficult to reach. It is a 45 minute taxi ride from the airport and St George s. We can arrange a hire car either from the airport or from Cabier with a minimum of three days hire. There is a regular mini-bus service from Crochu village, a 15 minute walk up the hill to the coast road, serving both St George s and Grenville our local town, with shops, supermarket and a market. Cancelation within 45 days of travel no refund A rental car can be delivered to the Lodge or airport (min 3 days rental). Cost is between - USD$45 - $65 per day depending on season and vehicle. A local driving licence (USD$12) obtained locally through car hire company is necessary. Taxi rates will increase according to the respective prices on the island. For a 50 minute airport transfer we charge the local taxi rate which is around $45 - $50. For more than four guests we will send our driver with a minibus. Our taxi service can pick you up anywhere on the island. Meals Cabier Ocean Lodge restaurant and bar provides breakfast, lunch and dinner on a pre-booked basis (usually the night before or morning in case of lunch and dinner). Continental breakfast is USD$11/Full breakfast USD$15 per person. Set 3 course dinner is $29 per person. Light lunch prices vary according to menu. Prices include service and taxes.
