ITINERARY MYSTICAL PERU EDGE LIFE GROUP May 10-19, 2013 Those arriving on Thursday, May 9, will overnight in Lima (Ramada Costa del Sol airport cost not included) and meet the group at the airport the morning of May 10 at 7.30am for the flight to Cusco, which leaves at 9:30am. Those departing on an overnight flight from the USA with early morning arrival May 10 in Lima will be met by an agent and escorted to the domestic terminal for the flight to Cusco. Friday May 10 TOUR BEGINS: : LIMA / CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS Meals included: Lunch and dinner You tour begins with your morning flight from Lima to Cusco. Upon arrival, you will begin a lovely drive to the Urubamba valley, called the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will stop on the way to the valley at Awanakancha, where South American llamas are bred. Here you will learn about the superb llama, alpaca and vicuna fibers, as well as the ancient weaving techiques that are still in use. Dinner and overnight at selected hotel. Flight Lima Cusco approximately 9:20am Saturday, May 11 SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner This morning, we ll explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas and visit the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. The site was built just as the Spaniards arrived, and evidence of how it was constructed is still visible with all of the incredible stonework. After seeing the magnificent temples of stone, you can stroll through the quaint streets of the town. After a delicious lunch, you ll continue to Pisak for an opportunity to shop and bargain with local vendors at its handicraft market. Lunch will be served at Alhambra restaurant. A despacho ceremony with a Q ero shaman will take place at the hotel upon your arrival. Dinner and overnight at selected hotel. A spiritually focused guide will accompany the group this day. Sunday, May 12 SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS / MACHU PICCHU Early morning transfer to Ollantaytambo station to board the Expedition train to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will take a 25-minute motorcoach ride to The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, which was discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering, because of its unique architectural and landscaping features and incredible stonework. You will take a tour with your guide to the main areas in Machu Picchu, such as the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the
Temple of the Three Windows, the Intiwatana / Hitching Post of the Sun, the Sacred Sun Temple and the Death Stone. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore on your own and feel the energy of this mystical place. Dinner and overnight at selected hotel. For hiking enthusiasts, we suggest the hike up to the peak of Huayna Picchu mountain, to the Sun Gate or the Temple of the Moon. Wednesday, May 15 CUSCO Meals included: Breakfast and lunch This morning, a visit to the archaeological ruins of the Inca empire that surround Cusco, starting with the remarkable ceremonial center of Sacsayhuaman, continuing on to Kenko, a limestone formation that has been intricately carved with depictions of entities. Here we explore winding underground passageways and a semicircular amphitheater. Finally we visit Tambomachay and connect with the Uma or water element. Enjoy lunch at Tunupa restaurant. These Quechua, over the generations, have developed both an efficient and original social system, as well as a refined hand-weaving technique. Flight to Cusco Juliaca, approximately 3:15pm Friday, May 17 PUNO LAKE TITICACA Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Enjoy a full day of sailing on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Depart early in the morning for the floating reed islands of Uros. Here the local inhabitants still live as they did centuries ago, on these floating islands that they make with the totora reeds that grow in the lake. Continue sailing towards Taquile Island where you will take a 30-minute hike to the small town inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives. Saturday, May 18 PUNO LAKE TITICACA Meals included: Breakfast, boxed lunch and dinner Today travel southeast along the Lake Titicaca shore to a pre-inca site called Amaru Muru. Feel the energy of this awesome stone doorway, which is believed by some to be an inter-dimensional gateway and where the seeds of all existence originated. Experience a ceremony with a local shaman to open you to other dimensions of reality. On the way back to Puno, visit Chucuito, the place of the Fertility Temple, where we find a rectangular compound of phallic-shaped stones. Here we see the symbol of fertility carved in stone and understand that everything is vibrating in two polarities male and female, Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Cosmos, birth and death.
