Safari Lodge
Welcome to Flame of the Forest Safari Lodge! Nestled in Kanha National Park, the lodge derives its name from one of India's most magnificent Tree, the Butea monosperma, otherwise known as Palash in Hindi. Etymologically, Palash or Flame of the Forest is a primary tree of the Indian Jungles. Its remedial properties make it a popular ingredient in ayurvedic medicines. The tree perennially flaunts green leaves, except in the summer months where leaves are replaced by an array of flowers tinted in stunning shades of red and orange. The lodge is situated amidst a sprawling 10 acre campus, with lush green trees and shrubbery providing a visual treat for the nature enthusiast. Four luxurious cottages along with an intimate dining area connect together by a network of meandering pathways and bridges overlooking the riverside. Water birds, monkeys and deer provide our special inhouse entertainment while they quench their thirst from the water of Banjar River streaming below. The lodge thus provides a perfect ambience for Nature enthusiasts who prefer an extra inch of style and personalized services!
The guest area is a lofty, elegant, open space with charming interiors, an open bar and an impressive dinning area. A huge veranda lines the dining hall, forming an ideal place for bird watching, star gazing and sitting around campfires. The Lodge thus seamlessly blends with the environment and creates a feeling of wilderness and tranquility from within.
We pride ourselves in being one of India s unique boutique lodges, with each of our four cottages constructed in Central Indian vernacular style. Access to each cottage is through a courtyard replete with shaded seating arrangement, a perfect spot for a long idle breakfast or an intimate romantic dinner. Works of young local artists displayed as part of the cottage interiors endorses our campaign to promote indigenous talent. The exhibited artwork remains with us for one season after which it is up for sale.the room is furnished with two king-sized sky beds set around a dramatic play of stone-clad walls and handcrafted woodwork. The en suite bathroom features twin basins and warm, earthy walls accentuated by local artist paintings. The interiors of the cottage spill onto a deck that captures the scenic beauty of the riverside and forest beyond. Relax, unwind and capture the spirit of wilderness on your private machan, which awaits you on the cottage deck.
