The Sacred Gosainkund Lake Vote with your feet and come walk with me Detailed trip itinerary (quoted trekking hours are estimated trekking times) Day 1: Kathmandu (the capital of Nepal - 1400 metres above sea level) There will be a trek briefing at 8am (or the night before if everyone has arrived early) followed by sightseeing of Kathmandu city, with some leisure time to relax as well. We will meet for a group cultural dinner & traditional dancing (included in price) in the early evening. Accommodation: Guest House Kathmandu Included Meals: Dinner
Day 2 Kathmandu Sundarijal - Chisopani - 1,400 1,460 2,215 metres 6 hours We leave Kathmandu early for Sundarijal by either bus or private transport taking approx 1 hour. The drive from Kathmandu offers good views of the locals at work. Once arriving at the road end we will start our trek to Chisopani along a large trail where we will soon entry the Shivapuri National Park after 45 minutes. We trek through forest in Tamang communities to Mul Khaka. We come to a ridgeline that encircles the Kathmandu Valley and views of Himalayan peaks. Day 3 Chisopani Chipling - 2,215-2,170 metres 3 ½ hrs We start by walking down hill to a saddle at Pati Bhanjyang following along to another saddle called Thankune Bhanjyang. Then ascend and following some switchbacks to the village of Chipling after 2 ½ hours. Day 4 Chipling Kutumsang - 2,170 2,470 metres - 4 hours We start our day walking up a ridge to a large Chorten where we will enjoy amazing views. Then descend to the village of Golphu Bhanjyang and maybe visit the local school. We continue onto the Sherpa community of Kutumsang and check our permits at the Langtang National Park office. Day 5 Kutumsang - Mangengoth - 2,470 3,390 metres - 4 ½ hrs This is a fantastic walk through oak forest and impressive red, white and pink Rhododendrons which are amazing in season (April). This is a photographer s paradise. There are good views of the lower valley s and Shivapuri behind us. We will stop at Kyuola Bhanjyang for lunch. On arriving at Mangengoth you will still be surrounded by Rhododendrons. Day 6 Mangengoth Acclimatisation day - 3,390 metres Today will be to rest and acclimatise, catch up on washing and maybe take a side walk. Day 7 Mangengoth - Ghopte - 3,390 3,530 metres - 3 hours We walk through dense forest (Rhododendrons in season) and climb to Therapati after 2 hours. It is a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains.
Day 8 Ghopte - Phedi - 3,530 3,630-3 hours We trek slowly along rocky terrain today passing a few waterfalls to Phedi our last stop before Lauribinayak La (pass). Day 9 Phedi Lauribinayak Pass Gosainkund - 3,630 4,610 4,380 metres - 5 hours Today is a fantastic walk up the valley with great views of Surya Peak in the north. We should be well acclimatised for crossing Lauribinayak pass after approx 4 hours. The pass is a wide saddle on the lower slopes of Surya Peak & Chhyarakung Chuli. There are many sacred lakes in the area which we pass some on our way down from the pass. After approx 1 hour after crossing the pass we come over a rise to be rewarded by the holist of lakes in the area Gosainkund and a Shiva shrine beside the lake. The Shiva shrine is decorated with bells to deter demons. It will be possible to climb the slopes of a rocky hillside for views of Suyra Peak and some scared lakes. Day 10 Gosainkund Sing Gompa 4,380 3,150 metres 4 hours We first descend before coming to a ridge of chortens after 1 hour. There are good views today of the Lantang range and Ganesh Himal. The rest of the day is through Rhododendron and pine forest before descending to the village of Sing Gompa. Day 11 Sing Gompa Dhunche 3,150 2,030 metres - 3 ½ hours We start by descending rapidly through impressive forest all the way to the Trisuli River. After crossing a bridge we continue on a undulating track until we meet the road near Dhunche. Accommodation: Guesthouse Day 12 Dhunche - Kathmandu - 2,030-1,400 metres We take the return bus or private transport back to Kathmandu, catch up on last minute shopping and meet for a farewell dinner (at your own expense) in the evening. Accommodation: Guest House Kathmandu Day 13 Kathmandu - 1,400 metres The trip will end this morning, however you may wish to stay on an extra few days in our hotel in Kathmandu which has an amazing roof top garden to sit and relax, or enjoy the panoramic vista of the mountains and visit the many historical sites that Kathmandu has to offer.

Prior to departure you may need to obtain certain visas depending on your nationality. Specific information is given to you in your pre departure information. A visa may be obtained at point of entry into Kathmandu at a cost of approx USD$40 for 30 day multiple entry. Clothing Note: While there is no technical climbing equipment required you should take warm and appropriate leather walking boots, sleeping gear and clothing as the trek in the Mount Everest region can get cold in the evenings. Donations: Please note you will be expected to make a donation when entering Monasteries, schools and the hospital at Kunde.
