T5/1.01 MEP.3/irc.3/Add.3 1 December 2001 FAILITIES IN PORTS FOR THE REEPTION OF OILY WASTES FROM SHIPS 1 It will be recalled that the Government of a Party to MARPOL 73/78 undertakes to ensure the provision of adequate reception in its ports for the reception of oily wastes oil s and other ships using its ports in accordance with regulation 12 of Annex I of the onvention. Furthermore, all Parties to the onvention are required to communicate to the Organization a list of reception in their ports in accordance with article 11(1)(d) of the onvention, and all IMO Member States which are not yet Party to the onvention are also invited to provide such information. 2 With the aim of promoting the effective implementation of the onvention, the Organization has been collecting and disseminating information on the availability of reception through MEP circulars. In recent years, this information has also been made available on the Internet <http://www.imo.org> (IMO's Home Page, irculars). 3 The attached provides additional information submitted by Governments between June 2000 and April 2001 and should be read in conjunction with MEP.3/irc.3* issued on 6 October 1998, MEP.3/ir.3/Add.1* issued on 19 October 1999 and MEP.3/irc.3/Add.2* issued on 1 December 2000. The list of IMO Member States which have submitted such additional information on oily waste reception is set out in annex 1 to this circular and the revised list of in annex 2. 4 Governments are invited to bring this circular to the attention of their Administrations, port authorities and shipping companies concerned through appropriate means. 5 Member States are invited to submit information on a port-by-port basis, including telephone and telefax numbers, so that the circular can be kept up to date.
