Leader: Email: Phone: (xxx) xxx-xxxx (c) Trip Overview: This graduate day-hike activity will take place on Saturday October, 24 th from 7:30am 5:00pm (appx.). Students and leaders will meet in front of the Rensselaer Union on the Sage Ave. side, and will shuttle together, by bus, to the Stratton Mountain trailhead located at 1376 Stratton-Arlington Rd, Stratton, VT 05360. Upon arrival at the trailhead, students will be broken into 2 groups where ice-breaker activities will be facilitated. A pre-hike safety talk will be given to ensure knowledge of inherent risk, discuss participant expectations, and address any questions the group may have. This is a round-trip, 8 mile out-and-back hike along the same trail, with no turns or junctions with other trails. Once at the top of the mountain, the group will have lunch and enjoy the 360* views from the Stratton Mountain Fire Tower. The return trip is the route hiked up. Emergency Action Plan: - Should an incident or accident occur during the hike wilderness medical care will be administerd, if needed, following assessment of the problem or injury. - If further care or action is required beyond that of Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid training of the trip leaders, 911 will be called and an evacuation to the trailhead will take place. - For serious illness or injury, 911 will be called and evacuation to the trailhead will take place. - All accidents requiring the need for 911 assistance will be met at the trailhead by the local EMT/EMS unless otherwise instructed. Evacuation Routes: Evacuations taking place on the trail will follow trail back to trailhead. (see attached trail map) Contingency Plan: This activity will take place rain or shine. Contingency plan is to cancel outing. Cancelation of outing will occur upon inclement weather, or unforeseen circumstances. If he is unreachable call other people that went on the trip. If no one from the trip can be reached, start calling officers and other people listed below.
