SUBURB PROFILE ALBANY CREEK Albany Creek is an attractive north-west Brisbane suburb, in the Moreton Bay region. INFRASTRUCTURE MORETON BAY PROJECTS MORETON BAY RAIL LINK LOCATION: PETRIE TO KIPPA RING, QLD VALUE: $650 MILLION EXPERTISE: RAIL DURATION: JULY 2013 - DEC 2016 Moreton Bay Regional Council has partnered with the State and Federal Governments to deliver council infrastructure to support the new Moreton Bay Rail Link. Construction is already well underway on the project to build 12.6 kilometres of train line and six new train stations from Petrie to Kippa-Ring, with completion expected by the end of 2016. Thiess innovative and cost-efficient design provides a fully-integrated transport solution that connects road and rail infrastructure to future proof' this expanding region. Major construction is well underway and the new rail line is taking shape. In 2015, work will continue on all 6 new stations and the Kippa-Ring stabling yard. Major work will also start on local roads and the rail track will start to be laid. The rail corridor works are due to complete late 2016. This innovative project will provide a more reliable, economical, and faster alternative to driving to the Brisbane CBD during peak periods. The Rail Link will also help reduce congestion on the road network, including the Bruce Highway, and free up capacity for journeys that can t be made using public transport.
