Our work is based on the belief that through learning, sharing, and understanding each other reduces to create international voluntary projects, creating PEACE. Volunteer Spirit Association (VSA Thailand) started activities in 2008 as SAWASDEE Thailand (ST) and organized its first international workcamp in 2009. Now VSA is a full member of NVDA (Network Voluntary Development in Asia) and CCIVS (Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service) and still promotes International Voluntary Service (IVS) in Thailand step by step. Membership enrollment. Project Short Term Workcamp (STV) Two weeks workcamps every month, mostly in Thailand. Mid-Long Term Volunteer (MLTV) Volunteer work with local partners for 1 12 months. Outgoing Project Sending Thai volunteers to international voluntary projects abroad. Group Workcamp Voluntary work with the group of volunteers from the same University, school, company and nationalities. Weekend Workcamp Available workcamp on the weekend for international volunteers and VSA members. Special Projects participation in any peace and education activities of locals or international partners. Peace Village/Learning home InterCutural and Language Learning Center Short Term Volunteer description Short Term Volunteer (STV) organizing international workcamps with the following themes: Education (EDU) teaching, learning, exchanging, with kids and adult in non-formal education way. Environment (ENVI) planting trees, taking care of planted trees, 3

4 collecting garbage, cleaning public water sources, conservation, etc. Agriculture (AGRI) learning Royal new Theory agriculture, organic farming, organic gas, etc. Culture (CULT) local history festival, cultural learning through local museums. Renovation (RENO) Painting, cleaning, repairing, reconstruction, etc. Construction (CONS) Build new buildings. Social (SOCI) Local community development. Festival (FEST) Attending local traditional festivals. Work with kids (KIDS) Qualification Age over 18 years. Ability to communicate in English or full intention to try. Friendly and loves to learn new things. Adaptability, flexible and open mind. Culture respect. Camp life Camp leader will be the one who manages and answers your questions, the camp leader will be the coordinator between international volunteers and local hosts in the beginning of camp. After a while, international volunteers can learn to communicate themselves with the local host, even if we use different languages. We welcome creative idea to reach the camp goal. Cooking Team and Cleaning team volunteers take turn for cooking, cleaning. Simple life volunteer are expected to stay at public hall, temple, school, Home stay, forest camping, depending on what project they ve selected entails. Participation Fee Participation fee is used for food and accommodation during workcamp and Association management. Volunteers in their own expenses, such as souvenirs, alcohols, personal food, free time travel expenses and also expense before and after their camp. Volunteers will pay the participation fee on the arrival day at the camp to their camp leader. Why participation fee? VSA is not financially supported by government to host projects related to IVS. Hence all projects are self-funded with a participation fee. Given the remote location and various complexities we have tried our best to make it as affordable as possible for volunteers. Being a non-profit organization we emphasize on transparency, below is how we spend collected participation fee. Food, accommodation and logistics of volunteer during workcamp.

Project setup costs. (material and logistics cost) Running the camp. (wages of professional like mason, carpenter, plumber etc and training local youth supported by us.) Office running/admin expenses. (Internet, photocopy, stationary, electricity, phone, salaries, office equipments, tools and rent etc.) Supporting small community project. International travel costs to global conferences and membership fee for networking. The participation Fee will be divide as 40% for Project Running, preparing workcamp all workcamp and MLTV project cost 40% for Association Running, all administrative cost such internet, rental, salary, phone, equipment, etc. 10% Networking, Training and Seminar, cost for International travel costs to global conferences and membership fee for networking 10% Foundation, activities and supporting to our local partners outside the project. How to apply and step Contact the VSA partner in your resident country Complete Volunteer Exchange Form Participate in Phone/ Skype Interview (only for some workcamps) With acceptance, the volunteer will get acceptance letter and information sheet by email via sending organization With Confirmation of acceptance, the volunteer need to confirm their participation by completing the confirmation form within the acceptance letter and send to workcamp@volunteerspirit.or.th or sending organization. Once all these steps are completed, pure able to join the work camp and share an amazing intercultural time together! About VISA to Thailand Short Term Volunteer (STV) Please see Summary of Countries and Territories entitled for Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival to Thailand. We will prepare invitation letter and send to sending organization for people who need visa to Thailand. See more information about VISA to Thailand or Thai Embassy.com Remark: Please contact us immediately after clearly coordinate with your sending organization if you need confirmation letter. VSA Thailand can help you before you leave your country but cannot provide a visa upon your arrival in Thailand. You need to make arrangements for a visa in your home country before your departure date. Your sending organization will usually help you along with the process. For information click here 5

If you have Tourist VISA, do not go out of Thailand until your VISA invalidate because the Tourist VISA will be finished and you have to asking for VISA again at Thai Consulate abroad. Background With the inspiration of peace, we have the idea of living together with people from different country, culture, religion and background as peace in the local community where everyone can learn and understand. Cause we are friends. At Peace Village, everyone can come to learn in the main aim is learning by doing and international community Living. We can study about each countries, nationalities, cultures, etc. in the class but in the real situation is not in the lesson where you can see how difference of people even they are from the same city. Peace Village is active at the rural area of Songkhla province, Southern of Thailand in the small village; name Ban Ton San (Ban in Thai mean village). The main occupation is rubber plantation and most of the villagers are Buddhist. Key words to live at Peace Village; Slow Life/ Living Organic International Community Living Learning by Doing Cultural Diversity Working Base on International community living, every work are coming by daily life. That is mean everything even generally is valuable in any case such as cleaning, repairing, building, teaching, learning. Segregation works at Peace Village are; Creative teaching English Creative teaching is important to recognize, teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of volunteer but creative is the one of yours. Aims of creative teaching is given the chance for people in the village or the place nearby have opportunity to communicate with difference language, touch difference culture, believing. Center construction As we are new center now we also need volunteer as first generation to set up the center as when they have spare time from main work. We are going to build Toilet, kitchen, dormitory for more volunteers, meeting area. There are villagers help and teach how to build. This is a good way to learn Thai way of construct. Relationship with the villagers The rest of time form your main work, important thing is to learn and share with the villager by visiting, talking and do activities with them You will get rich experience by learning and sharing from each other. Organic Farm learning how to produce our own non chemical food and vegetable. 9

10 Accommodation and food Volunteer will stay at Learning Home (Home stay) in Thai style dormitory Nature environment, basic and simple. Mat, pillow and fan are providing, so sleeping bag is very important (thin one) because you will sleep on the floor. Normal toilet and bath. Washing clothes by hand. No food and drinks accept water in accommodation area for your care because some animals such as mouse, ants, will come to share your food. Please keep clean and tidy. Volunteer expect to eat Thai food and take turn cooking with local volunteer. Terminal: Hat Yai International Airport, Hat Yai Train Station, Hat Yai Bus Station. Leisure Activities: Camp leader would take all the campers together. Local Temple, water fall, Klongla resorvior, Songkhla beach/zoo, Hat Yai city Extra Fee 9,000 Bath/participant Special Remarks Culture, open mind and love to learn and share.

VSA1602 Organic Agriculture Camp of Non formal Education learning center AGRI/ENVI 08-20/02 Songkhla 12 Background As the world s food problem grows, we recognize that making one s own food is important in the22nd century, so to learn basic how to produce our food is become more important again for human being. We have to going back to the nature to keep our world sustainable. Non formal education learning center is a public learning center for all the people especially for the poor and disawatant people in country side those who are leek of education and opportunity can come to learn, train and study for their career and get higher education. Organic farm and non-chemical agriculture is one of the main project here for the people can learn, get better job and earn more money. The center rent some land for poor people to do organic agriculture. So it s time for us to give them more hand to support the idea of the center. Moreover, volunteer will learn to share various planting ways between Asia and western styles from volunteers. Working Volunteers learn and share organic farm through local agriculture philosophy. Volunteers will prepare soils, plant and take care of plants by watering. They will also eat organic vegetables from organic farm. Location Non Formal Education Learning Centre, Songkhla 11

Accommodation and food Volunteers will stay at dormitory. Men and women are separated. Bed, blankin and pillow are provided. Toilets are Thai style (sit on your heels) showering is done by dipping a bucket in a bowl of water, then pouring the bucket over yourself. Toilet paper is not provided, but can be purchased at local stores. You must take off your shoes before entry the house (normally in everywhere in Thailand you need to take off your shoes before going indoors) Terminal Hatyai train station, Hatyai bus station, Hatyai International Airport Leisure Activities Samila beach, monkey mountain, walking street. Background As the world s food problem grows, we recognize that making one s own food is important in the22nd century, so our organic farm net work partner has running small organic farm in their family. We come up with the idea to support them our volunteers hand and to eat fresh food from our farm We grow what we eat, We eat what we grow. Moreover, volunteer will learn to share various planting ways between Asia and western styles from volunteers. Working Volunteer will work in organic farm with the family. Volunteers learn and share organic farm through local agriculture philosophy. Volunteers will prepare soils, plant and take care of plants by watering. They will also eat organic vegetables from organic farm. Location Ban rai Village, Hat Yai District, Songkhla 13

Accommodation and food Volunteers will stay at local agricultural farmer s house in Thai style hut (The family is Thai muslim). Men and women are separated. VSA1604 Songkran Festival& Living Organic Garden- Songkhla CUL/ FEST/AGRI 04-16/04 Hat Yai, Songkhla 12 14

Background Songkran Festival is the biggest and well known festival in Thailand with the cerebration the whole country.the collaboration with Klonghae Temple and Klonghae municipality, has allowed this camp for five times. The celebration is during the Thai New Year season, and we celebrate the Songkran day. Living Organic Garden is the garden from Association to archive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)on Goal 1 End poverty in all its forms everywhere, Goal 2 End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture, Goal 3 Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages Working One the first week the volunteer would stay at Living Organic Garden, working in small farm, planting and learning about vegetable, fruit, learning Thai cooking and sharing international food. Second week ; moving to the festival. Volunteers will help the villagers set up the festival, and be a part of the festival as international volunteers. You can bring a performance from your own country to perform during the festival including a music instrument to show in the festival. Volunteers are also expect to create a performance in the festival. Location Klong Hae Temple, Hat Yai, Hat Yai is the biggest city in the Southern Thailand Accommodation and food First week, stay at the Thai style house. Mattress and pillow are provided. Second week; Volunteers will stay in the temple with no mattress, only a tin mat is provided. Volunteers take turns to cook Thai food, and you should bring some ingredients from your own country to share with other international volunteers to create intercultural exchange. 15
