TERMIS-EU 2017 Sponsorship and Exhibition Opportunities We are pleased to announce TERMIS-EU 2017. The conference is the official European chapter meeting of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS, http://www.termis.org), whose purpose is the worldwide advancement of both the science and technology of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In 2017 the EU chapter meeting will be held from the 26 th to the 30 th of June 2017, at the Congress Centre, Davos, Switzerland. We are honoured to be able to host this important meeting. We are currently assembling a European Scientific committee, considering plenary speakers (including clinicians and basic / translational scientists) from all fields of tissue engineering along with keynotes (targeting young speakers). We expect 1000 to 1300 attendees with about 20-25% international (non-european) attendees. TERMIS-EU is the premier event for the dissemination of cutting edge research in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine and in 2017 it will be held at the premier congress city, Davos. This will be the highest meeting of TERMIS at 1560M altitude and we aim to reach the highest level of scientific presentations, organization and attendance for a TERMIS meeting.. We hope to welcome you to this inspiring place for an excellent meeting of TERMIS. Regards Chair: R. The second Davos University course, March 1928, with keynote speaker Albert Einstein Some History of Science City Davos The Fridericianum, a kind of grammar school for tuberculosis sufferers was founded in Davos as early as 1878 and soon after the turn of the century, Carl Dorno opened the first, small research institute. In 1923, Davos doctors organised the first international congress. The Physical-Meteorological Observatory followed in 1925. In 1928, Albert Einstein opened the Davos university courses, which were intended to mobilise internationally renowned persons from politics and science. This elevated Davos to the status of a congress city and it began to be recognised as a meeting point for the intellectual elite. Davos has a strong tradition of congresses, the most modern congress centre in the Alps and, thanks also to the World Economic Forum (WEF) and AO Foundation, is a source of outstanding international profile in both economics and healthcare. Each December the Davos Congress Centre is host to almost 2000 medical professionals who explore the newest developments in trauma and musculoskeletal surgery during the AO Courses run by the Davos based AO Foundation, a world-wide network of surgeons, originally founded in 1958, with its research Institute set up in Davos in 1959. The annually hosts the ecm single session conference on themes that recur every four years at the Davos Congress centre and the congress often leads to high level papers in the Not-for-profit Open Access ecm journal. Every five years, the International Pyrheliometer Comparison (IPC) campaign is held at the Physikalisch- Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos, founded in 1907 in Davos (World Radiation Center PMOD/WRC) to ensure world-wide homogeneity and calibration of official WMO solar radiation measurements. Snow and avalanche experts from all over the world gather at the WSL Institute of Snow and Avalanche Research, SLF founded in 1936 to progress in snow science and snow safety. At the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF, founded in 1905) a new vaccine against cat allergy was recently developed and the Institute hosts annually the World Immune Regulation Meeting at the congress centre for about 7-800 participants. The Institute is world renowned in immunology. Finally, in 2008 a fifth research institute came into being: the Global Risk Forum GRF Davos. GRF emphasizes on the development of methodologies of risk assessment, education and reduction.
