Yes, the changes to the fare types and conditions affect both Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights. How will the changes affect bookings if they have not been ticketed? Tickets issued on or before 20 January 2018 will be subject to the old fare conditions, while tickets issued on or after 20 January 2018 will be based on the new fare conditions. Tickets were issued before 20 January 2018. What happens when I make a change to tickets after that date? If a ticket is partly flown, the old fare conditions will apply regardless of the changes you make to the ticket. Page 1 of 5
Seat General How to purchase a seat in advance? This option is not available via the GDS, though will be progressively rolled out via NDC. When purchasing an eligible fare in Economy Class, there are two ways you can purchase a seat in advance: 1. Once tickets are issued. Assist the customer via the 'Manage Booking' section on singaporeair.com or silkair.com, depending upon itinerary. Enter the booking reference number, passenger last name, to make the seat s and payment. 2. Contact the Singapore Airlines Reservations office on 0844 800 2380. Tour Operator / Cruise Fares How to purchase a seat in advance? For Tour Operator and Cruise fare bookings the same conditions apply. In order to retain any pre-allocated seats for existing Tour Operator and Cruise bookings, currently held in a fare family that is chargeable, must be ticketed by 20 January 18. Post 20 January 18, to secure seats that are chargeable, tickets need to be issued If an Economy Lite fare has been purchased without the advance seat option. Seating will be allocated as follows. Once Online Check-in is open (48 hours before departure), all passengers will be able to select from any remaining Standard and Forward Zone Seats for free. If passengers don't check in online or select seats during this time, a seat will be assigned during the check in process at the airport. Definition of bookable seat options Extra Legroom seat. "Extra Legroom seat is the new name for a Preferred Seat, which provides more legroom in Economy and Premium Economy Class on Singapore Airlines and Economy Class on SilkAir. Any passenger who has purchased an Economy Lite, Standard, or Flexi fare can purchase a Preferred Seat, subject to availability. All Priority Passenger Service (PPS) Club members and Supplementary cardholders can select Extra Legroom seats for free, regardless of the fare type they choose and subject to availability. If a passenger wishes to occupy an Extra Legroom seat beside the emergency exit door, they must comply with our Passenger Criteria. If they are ineligible to sit in an emergency exit row seat, they may be reassigned to another seat before or during their flight, and the fees they have paid for the seat will not be refunded. Forward Zone seat A Forward Zone seat is located among the front rows of the Economy Class cabin, and passengers who are seated in this section will generally disembark the plane before other passengers in Economy Class. Passengers who purchase the Economy Flexi fare can select a Forward Zone seat for free, while those who purchase the Economy Lite or Economy Standard fare can purchase a Forward Zone seat. All KrisFlyer Elite Gold members can select Forward Zone seats for free, regardless of the fare type they choose and subject to availability. Standard seat All seats in Economy Class that are not Extra Legroom or Forward Zone seats are known as Standard seats. Passengers who purchase the Economy Standard fare upwards can select a Standard seat for free, while those who purchase the Economy Lite fare can purchase a Standard. All KrisFlyer Elite Silver members can select Standard seats for free, regardless of the fare type they choose and subject to availability. Advance Seat Selection Fees. If there are multiple flights within the itinerary, must passengers pay to choose a seat on each flight? Yes, passengers must pay to select a seat in advance on each flight of the itinerary. However, if the fare type varies, the seat conditions of the fare type applies to each flight. Can passengers select seats in advance if they have selected multiple fare types in their itinerary, and must they pay for those seats? Page 3 of 5
In Economy Class, only passengers who select Economy Flexi, Economy Standard, and Economy Lite fares are eligible to select a seat in advance. The conditions for seat and payable fees are dependent on the fare type you select for each flight of your itinerary. Do passengers have to pay to select seats for infants or children? Families travelling with children or infants in the same booking will be able to select Standard seats in advance for free. For the PNRs belonging to KrisFlyer Elite Silver (KFES) and above, are we able to assign them seats via GDS? For KFES and above, the Loyalty overlay exempts charges for different types of seats. For Ticketed bookings all seats where the charges have been exempted can be assigned via GDS. Please ensure that passengers KF Numbers are added to the PNR. If the KrisFlyer membership status has changed, and the passenger is now eligible to select Standard and/or Forward Zone seats for free, will they receive refunds for the seats selected on flights I haven't yet flown? No, all seat s made in advance are not refundable or transferrable. Change, Cancellation and Refund Can passengers change a seat after selecting one? All seat s made in advance are not refundable or transferrable. Once online check-in opens, 48 hours prior to departure, you can change your seat for free subject to availability. Any changes to flights and/or if seating in a different zone is required, then full payment is required for the new seating. Ticket was issued before 20 January 2018, and seat selected. Will passengers lose seats now that the fare conditions have changed? No as long as no changes are made. The booking has not been ticketed, but a passenger has already selected a seat. Will the passenger lose the seat now that the fare conditions have changed? Yes. If the booking is ticketed before 20 January 2018, any seat they have selected will remain. If their booking is ticketed from 20 January 2018 onwards, you will have to select a new seat and advance seat fees may be applicable. This applies to all fare types in Economy Class. A passenger booking has not been ticketed, and they have not selected a seat. Can the passenger select a seat in advance for free after 20 January 2018? If the booking has not been ticketed before 20 Jan 18, advance seat fees may be applicable depending on your fare type. To retain free seat, please ticket the bookings and select a seat before 20 Jan 18. A passenger s ticket was issued before 20 January 2018, but they have not selected a seat. Will they be able to select a seat in advance, now that the fare conditions have changed? Yes, they will be able to select their seat in advance for free. This applies to all fare types in Economy Class. If a passenger upgrades their fare type from Economy Lite to Economy Flexi, will they be refunded for the Standard seat they selected when they purchased the Economy Lite fare? No, all seat s made in advance are not refundable. A passenger has a Standard seat in advance; however, the aircraft has changed. Will they be allocated the same seat on the new aircraft? Due to operational reasons, we may have to deploy other aircraft types in order to keep to the flight schedule. We will do our best to allocate them a similar seat. Page 5 of 5
