This year s conference is entitled The Workplace of Today and Tomorrow Responding to New Compliance Obligations and Changing Workplaces. As you see from the included link to the Agenda, each program has been designed for the most sophisticated management practitioners and will offer cutting-edge practical advice. Registration will open at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, followed at 2:15 p.m. by two collaborative meetings on global topics and developments. The first session will take a deep dive into global pay equity. The second global session will be on Diversity & Inclusion and human rights. Wednesday s cocktail reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. The conference concludes on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. There will be a reception Saturday night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dana Point, California is characterized by nearly seven miles of prominent coastal bluffs and rolling hills along the Pacific Ocean. The most noteworthy of these bluffs is a unique promontory known as the Headlands, which overlooks Dana Point Harbor, one of the most significant landmarks of the Orange County coastline. Located in southern Orange County, Dana Point is approximately half way between Los Angeles and San Diego, and is bordered by the cities of Laguna Niguel and Laguna Beach to the north, San Juan Capistrano to the east and San Clemente to the south. This spacious and well appointed guest room is approximately 535 square feet, and offers true comfort and elegance. Each room has luxurious goose-down comforters, a master bathroom comprised of an oversized bathtub, a separate shower, and dual vanities. RATES: Group rates will be honored three (3) days before and three (3) days after the conference dates, based on availability. These rates do not reflect the current room tax of 10.30%. Should you require a rollaway bed or crib extra charges may apply. Two people are permitted per room. The hotel charges an additional fee of $50 per night per person for anyone 18 years or older. Children under 18 will not incur a charge. A $15.00 per room roundtrip porterage fee and a $3.00 per room, per day maid gratuity are included in the room rate. Checkin time is 4:00 pm and check-out time is 12:00 pm. Self parking is complimentary and included in the room rate. PARKING: Self Parking is included in the room rate. Valet parking at the resort is for a fee of $15.00 per day or $25.00 overnight. REGISTRATION: The conference registration fee is $995.00 for In-House Counsel and $1,425.00 for Outside Counsel. These rates include the $100.00 annual membership fee and access to the AELC web-site, www.aelc-law.org. Hotel reservations will be on a first come, first served basis. Register immediately as rooms at our conference rate are limited and typically sell out quickly. Upon receipt of the deposit and paid registration fee, conference confirmation will be forwarded to you. The hotel balance is due upon departure and is payable directly to the hotel. All registration and ticketed meal fees must be paid in full prior to attendance at the conference. COURSE MATERIALS: All course materials will be provided in electronic format only via Guidebook. You should receive the link to the site by email on or about October 11th. Please be sure to download the materials before you leave for Dana Point. CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION: AELC will seek CLE credits in all U.S. jurisdictions from which participants wish credit, except that participants may be required to file for credit on their own behalf in some jurisdictions due to local rules. If a participant must seek his/her own credit, AELC will provide the necessary forms and proof of attendance. Attorneys admitted to practice in states with mandatory CLE should so state on the registration form. 3
SPECIAL THURSDAY DINNER: On Thursday evening, there is a special 25 th Anniversary dinner for all of the participants and guests. The cost is included in the attendee registration this year. Guests may attend for a cost of $95.00. Tickets may be purchased during the registration process. The dress is smart casual. TICKETED THURSDAY AND FRIDAY LUNCHES: Lunches on Thursday and Friday are available for $35.00 per person each day. Thursday s lunch will include small group discussions for corporate counsel and roundtable discussions on various topics for outside counsel. Friday s lunch provides an opportunity for participants to meet and network before the afternoon sessions. GOLF: Lawrence Ashe is handling the golf arrangements. SPOUSE/GUEST BREAKFAST: The Spouse/Guest Breakfast takes place on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. The cost is $30.00 per person and includes breakfast and a chance to meet friends. SPOUSE/GUEST TOUR: The Spouse/Guest tour will take place on Friday. The program has not yet been finalized. Please provide your spouse/guest s email address on the registration form so he/she may receive the information once available. SPA SERVICES: Escape to Miraval Life in Balance Spa, one of the most soothingly elegant spas in Orange County. This Orange County spa is a place to breathe, reflect and be in the moment. In this seaside retreat, you ll find the space and time to be present and peaceful. The 20-yard lap pool is available to hotel guests, resort members and day spa guests only. We encourage you to sign up for spa therapies and treatments in advance. They will fill up quickly. FITNESS CENTER SERVICES: Guests are welcome to use the state-of-the-art gym equipped with Technogym cardiovascular and strength machines as well as a free weights area. Personal trainers are on hand to help you prepare for sporting events, specific goals or assist with the creation of a life-changing fitness routine. The Athletic Club is available to hotel guests and resort members at no additional fee. 4
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: All cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing to Certified Travel. Prepaid program registrations cancelled by September 5, 2017 will be refunded, less $200.00. Prepaid program registrations cancelled between September 6, 2017 and September 27, 2017 will be refunded, less $375.00. No-shows and those cancelled on September 28, 2017 and thereafter will not be eligible to receive a refund. Registrants who cancel will receive annual membership and access to an electronic copy of the conference materials. All ticketed meals, tennis, and events are refundable up to 14 days prior to the event. Golf is refundable up to 7 days prior. There is a $50.00 service charge on any hotel cancellation once the reservation has been made. In addition, the hotel will charge a one-night fee for any cancellation received within 14 days of the arrival date, failure to show, or late arrival. Unless changed before or at check-in, the hotel will charge a penalty for early departure. There is no penalty for revising a reservation prior to your arrival at the hotel. Your one night s deposit will be refunded if you cancel before the 14 day deadline less the $50.00 service charge. EXTRAORDINARY PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES: The Chair of AELC may waive some or all additional cancellation charges due to extraordinary personal circumstances. A request for such waiver should be made directly to Hope Eastman, Chair of AELC. CANCELLATION INSURANCE: AELC strongly recommends taking out travel insurance.
