INTRODUCTION This is the opportunity of a lifetime to go on safari with The Wild Source s unbeatable father and son guiding team of Deo and Fadhil Magoye. These guides have an unrivaled passion for the wilds of Tanzania, and have the skills and knowledge to match. The knowledge of big cats and overall wildlife behavior between these guides is astounding and they are ready to share it all with their eight guests on this safari. This safari has been custom designed to provide the classic East Africa safari experience staying under canvas and traversing wide open plains teeming with animals in amazing quantities. The trip is focused on having the highest quality wildlife viewing, with top guiding and time to view the fascinating behavior of animals. This is a serious game viewing safari and the daily schedule will be completely tailored around making the most of our time in the bush. Unlike most safaris that rush around to see many parks here we focus simply on the most extraordinary game viewing, by combining two amazing areas within the Serengeti ecosystem along with a visit to iconic Ngorongoro Crater and Manyara Private Conservancy for night drives and walking. We include large and remote areas where we can off-road drive and have supreme wilderness experiences away from others. This is a one-of-a-kind safari!

THE WILD SOURCE TANZANIA DIFFERENCE Acclaimed Tanzanian guide Deo Magoye and lion researcher/wildlife biologist Bill Given partnered to form The Wild Source Tanzania. We are a rare company to have our own Tanzania registered ground operation based in Arusha but also provide the convenience of a USA based safari planning office. One of our clients said it best when he said "we are a niche provider for those that want a deeper wildlife experience in a market dominated by mainstream providers." We love to share our passion for the wildlife with our guests and take pride in our ability to locate the great migration, big cats and so much more. Once located we like to spend quality time to patiently observe wildlife so that you can see the unique behaviors that make the natural world so fascinating. Every safari is custom designed according to each guests unique interests and wildlife biologist planned for the specific natural rhythms of the time of year. Your safari experience is very personal to us and we cherish the chance to share the incredible wildlife, stunning landscapes, and welcoming cultures of Tanzania with you!

Guiding is the heart of The Wild Source operation. The managing partners started their safari careers guiding and continue to guide. Guiding is what we love and we know it is the most important factor to delivering a superior safari. Most people do not realize until after their safari what a huge impact their guide has on their trip. With the right places for the season selected, game viewing will be good with any guide but an outstanding guide can make the experience exceptional. Such a guide will know how to find your own sightings and how to get away from the crowds rather than just follow radio calls and masses of other vehicles. He can also share knowledge, anticipate animal behavior to get you to the best spots and photo angles or even find animals that would normally be missed. A great guide also knows how to serve his clients to help maximize what you hope to see. The majority of your time on safari will be in the guide's company so it is important that they are personable and fun to be with, can educate about the local culture, as well as serve as a leader who ensures that all on your trip runs smoothly. Despite how incredibly important this role is very few safari goers have any idea who their guide will be until they arrive; most companies are simply unable to commit a guide at the time of booking. We keep a small team of outstanding guides to ensure that each client has a spectacular safari and for Tanzania s northern circuit we can tell you who your guide will be ahead of your safari. Guiding is our emphasis and a major differentiating factor for The Wild Source.

DEO MAGOYE PRIVATE TANZANIAN GUIDE, THE WILD SOURCE Most companies will claim their guides are great but a quick look at Deo s history illustrates that he is a one-of-a-kind for this region. In 2008 Deo was featured as the Safari Guide and Bush Lore expert for the South African television show Voetspore: Journey from Gansbaai (South Africa) to Gabon, a 3 month expedition through rarely visited terrain. This was a follow up to his role on the same series when their expedition went from Cape Town to Cairo. Deo s guiding skills are well known, making him the guide selected by many film crews and professional photographers. He was the head guide for a National Geographic film crew for 4 months making a film of the Serengeti migration, and he has guided for BBC filmmakers as well. Legendary wildlife photographer Tom Mangelsen was guided by Deo for his East Africa shoots, as were Boyd Norton and Joe McDonald who have contributed to the Audubon Field Guide for African Mammals as well as created their own books. While it is clear that Deo is the experts choice he is also perfect for anyone who is simply excited to go on safari. When preparing such a resume of highlights it was Deo who said it is hard to single anyone out because all my clients are VIP to me. The skills to find animals and position a vehicle are only a small part of what makes Deo a special guide. His laid back but confident manner and vivid personality make him a joy with whom to spend your time. With more than 25 years of guiding Deo knows Tanzania like few others. Deo is an owner and Managing Director of The Wild Source Tanzania.

FADHIL MAGOYE PRIVATE TANZANIAN GUIDE, THE WILD SOURCE Fadhil is Deo s son and was fortunate to learn about the natural world and guiding from a master throughout his childhood. Fadhil grew up loving wildlife and fascinated by the secrets of nature. He had a vision of becoming one of the people that will conserve natural habitats within Tanzania and beyond. This led to college studies on wildlife. With guiding Fadhil is able to combine his wildlife and conservation interests. Amazingly Fadhil s first guiding job was with Asilia Africa as a resident guide at Olakira Camp. The annual hiring process starts with 150 applicants invited in, that narrows to 30 candidates for a 3 day intensive testing process resulting in just 10 guides being selected for an impressive 6 week training session. Fadhil served as a resident guide at Olakira for 2 ½ years learning both the Ndutu and Northern Serengeti areas intimately to the point of having remarkable knowledge of individual big cats and the events in their lives. In addition to guiding Fadhil is putting his wildlife studies to work as he heading up our Serengeti big cat research project.

THE AFRICAN TULIP ARUSHA, TANZANIA 1 NIGHT The African Tulip is an elegant and charming Boutique Hotel located along Serengeti Road right in the heart of Arusha. A warm and friendly welcome awaits guests who want to experience the best of Tanzanian hospitality. The Baobob Restaurant offers a range of cuisine and can accommodate for a late night arrival and early breakfast. They offer an all-day menu also available poolside. The Zanzibar Lounge is sophisticated and relaxing a great place to enjoy a drink or snack. Each room has all the modern amenities expected from an urban boutique hotel. These include wide-screen televisions, laptop-sized safes, air-conditioning, the latest door entry systems and high-speed Wi-Fi. Room service, a telephone and hairdryer are standard in all rooms.

MANYARA RANCH MANYARA RANCH CONSERVANCY, TANZANIA 2 NIGHTS Manyara Ranch Conservancy is an exclusive 35,000 acre conservancy area operating in partnership with the local Maasai communities, Tanzania Land Conservation Trust and the African Wildlife Foundation. The Conservancy was created to protect the migration corridors that run between Lake Natron, Ngorongoro, Manyara, Tarangire and the Maasailands to the South making it a critical area to conserve. Being a private conservancy rather than a national park makes this an ideal location for active travelers who want to include more than day time game drives on their itinerary. Walking safaris, night drives, and off roading in a large area with no other tourists are all part of the advantages of being in the Conservancy area.

Due to the partnership with the local Maasai it is also possible to visit nearby villages that are not on the regular tourist circuit and thus offer an excellent opportunity for cultural interaction. It is also possible to visit the local school. Part of the mission of the ranch is to run a cattle enterprise to study techniques and impacts that can be more compatible with wildlife and it is possible for guests to learn more about the cattle operation and join Maasai herders with their cattle. Game viewing in the area is good, like nearby Tarangire, the area is particularly good for elephants. It is possibly the best location in the region to see lesser kudu and they are spotted with regularity here. In addition to the game viewing on Manyara Ranch Conservancy it is a short drive to visit Tarangire or Lake Manyara National Parks so from this base you can easily explore three different areas while always retiring to the exclusivity of the Conservancy. The area has also proven to be very productive for night drives, a rare treat in Northern Tanzania as night driving is not allowed throughout much of the park system. Such rarities as aardvark and aardwolf are found at times along with a host of other interesting nocturnal species. The camp consists of eight classic style tents, including one two-tented family unit. Each tent is furnished with handcrafted furniture, Egyptian linen, and has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water on tap and flush toilets. The porch in front of the tent is the perfect place to relax and watch for animals coming to the waterhole.

LEMALA NGORONGORO NGORONGORO CRATER, TANZANIA 1 NIGHT The Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Some maintain that before it erupted, it would have been higher than Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Today, long since having collapsed and eroded, it is an extensive highland area with the famous 600 m deep Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. Endangered black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands, and flamingoes crowd the soda lakes. An estimated 25,000 large mammals are resident in this bowl of plenty, including a population of highly endangered black rhino and around a high density of lions and hyenas.

Lemala Ngorongoro Camp is an intimate camp set in an ancient acacia forest on the rim of the Crater. Ideally located as the closest camp to an access road that is lightly used, as most accommodation is on the other side of the Crater. This allows you to maximize quality game viewing time by entering the Crater first and on the quiet side of the Crater floor for magical time before other vehicles make it in to the area. The camp offers accommodation under canvas in 9 luxury tents. Each spacious tent is fitted with a gas heater, two queen beds with warm winter duvets to suite the high elevation, wooden flooring with rugs, 24-hour solar lighting, en-suite bathrooms with a dressing area, flush toilet and the largest bucket showers in Tanzania (40 liters). The tents are heated at night by a gas heater and hot water bottles under the sheets. The mess tent features grad sofas, book shelves, and rugs. The campfire is the social hub to exchange daily stories. The camp works closely with the local Maasai community who often provide dances and talks on Maasai life, their culture, traditions, and ceremonies.

LEMALA EWANJAN CENTRAL SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, TANZANIA 2 NIGHTS Lemala Ewanjan is a new deluxe seasonal camp with 12 beautiful tents set along the game-rich Seronera Valley in a spectacular location on the western slopes of Makoma Hills in the Central Serengeti. The central houses the highest concentration of resident game in the Serengeti, so this is an excellent region to explore year-round with great elephant, hippo, giraffe, lion, leopard, and the migration moves in from April through June. Major game viewing areas of Central, Southern and Western Serengeti are easily accessible and at the end of the day guests can return to the privacy and solitude of the camp to enjoy great service, food and ambience. It s an excellent base to explore thoroughly the hidden treasures of the Central Serengeti.

The high specification tents are some of the most spacious and comfortable seasonal tents in Tanzania. Each tent is outfitted with 2 queen size or 1 king size leather beds, warm duvets, flush toilet, large safari shower, running water, wooden cabinets and flooring, 24-hr solar lighting, and outside lounger. The mess tent offers separate living and dining areas with a central bar area and is beautifully decorated with leather sofas, chandeliers, side cabinets, rugs and chests. Lemala Ewanjan Seronera Valley is perhaps the finest new seasonal camp in Serengeti in a truly spectacular location. - 12 en-suite tents with two queens or one king (including 1 family tent) - 1 Mess tent with separate lounge and dining - 24 hour solar electricity supply with backup generator - Internet access in common areas - Mosquito nets - Laundry services - Battery charging facilities in the main area - Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks included

NJOZI CAMP NORTH NORTHERN SERENGETI, TANZANIA 4 NIGHTS Njozi Camp is tucked away in a beautiful forested area that has a premier location for wildlife viewing. Located within easy striking distance of the famed Mara River, convenient crossing points 0-4 (there are 10 Crossing Points). Njozi Camp is not just exceptional for the location, but for how the camp flexibly caters to support each guests schedule around the natural rhythms of the game viewing. With the Mara River providing a reliable permanent water source game is always rich here and the river is loaded with hippos and crocodiles. This is one of the best areas of the Serengeti for viewing elephants and it is excellent big cat country with leopards and lion tucking into the rock kopjes and cheetah working the open plains. The area is best known for one of nature s dramatic spectacles as the great migration herds of wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River on a near daily basis. The crossings typically occur from mid-july through mid- October.

Uniquely, Njozi Camp employs a full-time wildlife biologist who is studying the big cats in the area. A stay in our camp contributes to supporting this wildlife biologist, helping to develop biologists field skills but also critical interpersonal skills. We are testing a wildlife identification software program and collecting long-term monitoring data on big cats that can assist with their conservation. In exchange guests receive a much deeper wildlife safari experience than the typical safari and can depart with the satisfaction that they have helped train the wildlife biologists needed to conserve this magnificent heritage far into the future. The philosophy of the camp is to provide comfort for our guests while the staff works hard behind the scenes to allow full flexibility with meal times and service, including packing meals to go to the bush. This way our guides are able to deliver the superior game viewing experience for which The Wild Source is known. The Njozi Camp staff creates a soulful atmosphere that makes guests feel welcome. Camp manager Peter Mushi has a wonderful laid back, but efficient style that keeps everything running smooth. We are blessed that a number of the staff grew up together in the Tanga area, where music is a way of life. They have brought this musical passion to the bush, and the camp is often entertained by the Moto Moto (Hot Hot!) Band, likely the Serengeti s most talented musical group. Our chef team of Emmanuel, Israeli and Paulo also draw rave reviews. The chefs are skilled and produce outstanding meals including catering for the full range of dietary requirements. Especially popular are our Swahili nights, when guests are treated to some fantastic local flavors.

Njozi is a small and intimate camp with just six tents, making it one of the smallest in the Serengeti. The tents are spacious and inviting with lovely carpets and stylish wrought-iron beds decked out with high quality linens and duvets. There is a bedroom/living area, a dressing area with a sink that has running water and a small wardrobe, and then separate private shower and toilet areas. The showers are the typical bucket shower set up found throughout the Serengeti area where the staff will deliver hot water that is hoisted above your tent to allow for a delivery through a normal shower head in the privacy of your own tent. A solar power inverter system provides electricity for tent lighting and the charging of batteries and electronic devices. Each tent has a small veranda with safari chairs to enjoy the outdoor environment. The central area of camp includes a mess tent with veranda area for relaxed hanging out, as well as the essential camp fire area. There is a lounge tent with wildlife books and a battery charging station. A wellstocked bar and fantastic meals are included to round out your safari experience.
