sample itinerary Below is an example itinerary of a typical 7-day Overseas Adventure in coastal Croatia. Each day includes a wide range of activities and cultural visits, led by our team of experienced Outdoor Leaders. Please contact us for a full itinerary. 01 Arriving at Zadar Airport, you will travel by coach to Bobo s Farm at Kastel Zegraski to set up camp. Students will have a large supper around the campfire, and a briefing about the rest of the adventure. 02 After breakfast, we will set out on a trek to the stunning Kudin Bridge area, taking time to visit the 14th Century Krupa Monastery. The students will then be able to choose their dinner from the old trout farm in the hills, before heading back to Bobo s Farm. Here they will pick vegetables, help with the livestock and learn about traditional Croatian farming methods. 03 After breakfast, we will start our kayak journey down the Zrmanja River, stopping at the beautiful Krupa waterfalls, where the students will swim and have lunch before setting off down the river again. sample itinerary 04 After breakfast, the students will take a trip to the colourful town of Novigrad on the coastline, where they will visit an olive farm and vineyard. We will spend the day sea kayaking to explore the beautiful Croatian coastline. 05 Our two-day trek will begin in the Paklencia National Park, where the students will head into the dramatic Velebit Mountains and explore the stalagmites and stalactites in the Manita Pec cave. Students will spend the night in a Mountain hut. 06 After breakfast, students will spend the day trekking further into the Velebit Mountains, exploring this challenging environment and practising their navigation skills. All of the meals are freshly prepared at camp by our team, using locally sourced ingredients including fresh fish, foraged vegetables and local game. Students will also cook their own food, using Croatian speciality cooking technique, Ispod Peka. We cater for all dietary requirements, including all allergies, religious choices and vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free diets. We are also a nut free company. Health & Safety The Bushcraft Company provides the highest standards of health and safety, and pastoral care. The safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us, and we aim to reduce risk to the lowest reasonable level at all times. The benefits of outdoor education combined with overseas travel is an extremely powerful way to aid development of young people and prepare them for life after school. We believe well-managed outdoor activities significantly outweigh the health and safety risks, and when planning our overseas trips, our starting point is the benefits students will gain. Safety Management Systems People We employ ECRB certified staff with the right skills, qualifications and character to work with students when overseas. A UK Outdoor Leader is assigned to each group and remains with students throughout the trip and you will be introduced to them early on in the planning process. All staff are first aid trained and we have a retained Healthy & Safety expert, a Medical Adviser and the support of a 24-hour emergency response service. Locations and Activities We deliberately limit the number of destinations and choose locations that allow us to run bespoke itineraries that fit our bushcraft model of outdoor learning. All of our overseas adventures are age appropriate and flexible to account for student ability and weather conditions. All of our activities and our locations are fully risk assessed. Resources We source all of our equipment and food from reputable suppliers to ensure quality control. Food hygiene is controlled by trained staff and all food is stored safely. Process and Procedure All of our programmes are compliant with Local Authority and other national safety guidelines. Any incidents are managed through our detailed incident, emergency and communication plan. We regularly communicate with schools before their school trip and also offer previsits for school staff. Finalise Your Adventure Once your students have signed up using our overseas adventure consent and application forms, and paid the deposit, we will book all flights and supply you with your detailed itinerary, and a health and safety pack.
