HOLIDAY CODE FAF An active family holiday on the Amalfi Coast in Italy with its volcanoes, gelato and pizza Based by the sea, in the coastal town of Minori for endless swimming fun Explore the rugged coast with some easy kayaking on the sparkling sea Visit the historic town of Pompeii and walk up the smouldering Vesuvius Lovely family friendly walks along this stretch of staggering beautiful Amalfi coast Italy, Trek & Walk, Family, 8 Days 7 nights hotel, 7 breakfasts, 3 dinners, max group size: 15, 6 days activities and sightseeing VIEW DATES, PRICES & BOOK YOUR HOLIDAY HERE

PAGE 2 Introduction Italy and the Amalfi Coast is famed for its delicious food, stunning coastline and 10 hours of daily sunshine, making it the perfect base for an amazing family adventure. During our week we explore this rugged Amalfi coast by kayak, on foot along the Walk of the Gods, through the historic streets of Pompeii and up to the lofty crater of the famous Mt Vesuvius. There are plenty of opportunities for swimming and snorkelling in the warm waters especially as our base is in the authentic Amalfi coastal town of Minori. Little lanes lead down to the palm-lined streets and the dark-golden sand beach. Our holiday ends with one night in Naples which is packed full of historic and archaeological treasures and has splendid views of Vesuvius. No family holiday in Italy is complete without a pizza making session and some free time to take a boat trip through the sparkling waters along the coast or to the island of Capri. Mix in some gelato and lemoncello, and we have all the ingredients for a magnifico holiday in Italy. Is this holiday for you? Suitable for children from 8yrs old This family adventure in Italy is centre-based (except for 1 night at the end in Naples) in a hotel in the historic centre of Minori. The beach is a hop-skip-jump from the hotel, making it an excellent location allowing children to swim after the day s activities and afterwards for the parents to seek out a little street café to sip some wine or a limoncello, and maybe a lemon granita for the kids, before dinner. We have a morning kayaking, paddling calmly along the coast, pitched at a beginner/easy level. Children will share double kayaks with parents and must be 8yrs or older. All equipment including buoyancy aids, guides, safety instruction is provided. You will need to be able to swim for kayaking. We have 3 days with day-walks, these are between 1-3hrs, and are stunningly beautiful. Due to the nature of the terrain there is a little ascent and descent in these walks. We usually end the walks at a beach for a swim. Holiday Itinerary Day 1: Meet at the hotel in the coastal village of Minori. A single transfer from Naples Airport is provided. We meet at Naples Airport and take the single timed transfer to the coastal village of Minori, on the beautiful Amalfi coast. Being located on the coast means that we avoid many of the drives up little zig-zag, windy roads to and from places up on the hill such as Agerola. We also have endless opportunities to go to the beach and swim in the sea. Our first evening in Minori we can explore this little town, with its street cafes and al fresco dining. At dinner we have a briefing from our guide about the week's activities. MEALS D Day 2: Bus & boat to Ravello. Paint your own ceramic. Walk through the Mulini Valley down to Amalfi. Our first outing starts with a waterbus ride to nearby Amalfi and then the local bus up to the picturesque Ravello which sits high on a cliff with wonderful views across the Mediterranean. A magical start to the holiday and giving us a great impression of the area and stunning coastline. This area is famous for its colourful ceramics, which have been made here since the Roman times. And we will have a go at painting our own small bowl, pot or cup inspired by the colours of the sea, terraced gardens and lemons. We will receive it back later in the week after it's been fired. Our delightful walk through the 'Valley of the Mills' or Valle Mulini follows the Caneto River. We stop for a waterside picnic or break as we wander past many of the old paper mills of Amalfi down from Ravello to the coast.

PAGE 3 The paths are well marked and pretty through wooded areas, houses and with breath-taking views. On arrival into Amalfi, we see the traditional paper-making shops, and maybe sample local gelato flavours. A great day, full of variety. We take the waterbus back to our hotel in Minori, were we can have a quick swim before dinner. Please note that all boat/waterbus transfers are subject to weather conditions, and a regular bus may be taken instead. ASCENT 50M MEALS B DESCENT 400M TIME 2-3 HRS WALKING HOURS Day 3: Splendid kayaking excursion along the coast from Amalfi. Up early this morning and after breakfast we take the waterbus along the coast again to Amalfi. Here we meet our kayaking team and get ready for some peaceful paddling on these warm waters. It is a 3-4 hour session west along the coast towards Furore Fjord. For those who have never been in a kayak, there will be a short introductory lesson on how to kayak and safety at sea. Children will be in a kayak with a parent. The route will take us along the finest beaches, under natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving us the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast. We stop at beaches reachable only by sea, and have time to go snorkelling or swimming in crystal-clear waters. We can admire the ancient fortresses, hotels, roman villas and modern mega villas of the wealthy. We reach the small world famous, Furore Fjord, and stop on the beach below the tiny village full of colourfully painted houses. The return trip to Amalfi will give us a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land. We then transfer back to Minori by bus or boat. Here we can relax on the beach, the hotel or at one of the cafes before dinner. MEALS B Day 4: Free day for optional trips to Capri Island, Agerola mozzarella factory or simply relaxing in Minori. Today we have a free day, so you can your family can relax together or with some of your new found friends on the holiday. One possibility would be to take an excursion to the island of Capri. From Amalfi we can board the public hydrofoil to reach Capri famed for its stunning rugged landscape and Blue Grotto. With resplendent views of cliff side villages, we skirt around the coastline to view many of the rock formations and sea grottos which once a hide out for vagrants of the sea. We can explore the island on foot following picturesque lanes known as 'the passeggiate'. This tree-lined walk offers spectacular views over Capri's iconic, limestone formations known as the Faraglioni rocks. There are also beaches for swimming before the ferry back to Amalfi. Alternatively we can stay in Minori and visit the Roman villa dating back to the 1st century (!), or visit the cathedral of Sant'Andrea in Amalfi which dates from the 10th century, or take a bus up to Agerola with its vineyards, ancient mule tracks and mozzarella cheese factories. Of course, the beach is always available for swimming, pre or post your excursion today. MEALS B Day 5: The Lemon Trail to Maiori. Pasta Making with the chef. A day with no transfers as we walk from Minori to Maiori. This is a short walk, with fantastic panoramic views. We pass through the little village of Torre with its lush terraced gardens, and through olive groves, small vineyards and of course lemon tree plantations, essential for the lemoncello and lemon granita. On arrival in Maiori we are

PAGE 4 presented with a great beach which is suitable to spend a little time at. After lunch in a small café we return to Minori back along Lemon Trail as we came. This evening we have a session at the restaurant making some classic Italian pasta with the chef. MEALS BD TIME 2 HRS WALKING HOURS Day 6: Walk along one of Europe's best walks 'The Walk of the Gods' - Agerola to Positano. Pizza Making evening. Rated as one of the best walks in Europe the 'Walk of the Gods' follows an ancient mule track which links Agerola to the pink town of Positano. We take a combination of boat bus and bus up to Agerola where we begin our straightforward walk and enjoy spectacular views across the Sorrentine Peninsula and Isle of Capri. Passing through terraces of grapes, lemons and tomatoes, we may be able to meet some of the local famers on our way to the charming hillside village of Nocelle where we will stop for a picnic lunch. Finishing our journey to Positano with a short bus ride, we have plenty of time to stroll the streets of this cosmopolitan hang-out, or cool off with time on the beach. We complete our circuit with a boat journey back to our base in Minori. This evening we have the excitement of making our own pizzas. Our pizza chef will show us how to spin the dough in the traditional 'over the head on one finger' fashion and then we can select our toppings before it goes on the big paddle into the oven. Always a firm favourite for children and adults alike, we can enjoy our last evening on the Amalfi coast eating our pizzas, watching the sunset and maybe a glass of delicious red wine. Another blissful holiday day in Italy. ASCENT 50M MEALS BD DESCENT 260M TIME 2-3 HRS WALKING HOURS Day 7: Walk through the Roman streets of Pompeii and on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. We wave goodbye to the delightful Amalfi coast and board our private vehicle for the transfer (approximately 1 hr) to the sleeping Roman town of Pompeii. The story of Pompeii is well-known. After a cataclysmic eruption of the nearby volcano, Vesuvius, the town of Pompeii was buried under the hot spewing ash for around 1700 years until it was rediscovered by Italian architect Domenico Fontana. Walking around this town is a real education for children and parents alike, as we tour the streets, visiting well preserved sites such as the amphitheatre, baths and many shops. To have an overall impression of the magnitude of the volcano we drive along the road up the slopes of Mount Vesuvius and then walk the last 45mins to reach the first section of crater rim. We can look right down into the volcano of Vesuvius with its black lava and boulder strewn walls. This volcano, is stable and an active at the same time, last erupted in 1944. The extensive views across the Bay of Naples are simply spectacular. We then transfer (approximately 1 hr) to our hotel in the centre of Naples for our final night. Our guide will recommend a suitable establishment and we can enjoy a final Italian meal together with the group. MEALS B TIME 1-2 HRS WALKING HOUR Day 8: Departure day. After breakfast KE Land Only services end. Naples Airport is not far from the city centre and our hotel, so transfers are simple either by taxi or by bus. Flexible departure times means that you might have time to explore some of this interesting town. Maybe a visit to Naples underground with its myths and legends. All in all this is a great city to end a fantastico week in the Italian sunshine.

PAGE 5 MEALS B Holiday Information What's Included A professional and qualified tour leader Single timed arrival airport transfers All accommodation as described Meals as detailed in the Meal Plan All land transport required by the itinerary All activities mentioned in the itinerary except where specified as 'optional' What's Not Included Travel insurance Visas (if applicable) Some meals as detailed in the Meal Plan Extra activities and excursions indicated as optional Tips for local staff Miscellaneous personal expenditure Meal Plan All breakfast and 3 dinners are included in the holiday price. Food Part of the experience of any visit to Italy is the opportunity to taste its wonderful cuisine. The Amalfi region traditionally has a 'Mediterranean' diet, rich in vegetables, pasta, fish and olive oil which latterly has come to be equated with longevity. The soil here is very rich, probably because of Vesuvius, and everywhere we go we will see an abundance of tomatoes, courgette, chilli and basil, terraces of grapes, and orchards of lemons, apples, and chestnuts. It is hardly surprising that the Amalfi coast has some of the best cuisine in the world. Alongside this there is always pizza and pasta which is always a winner for the children. Breakfast in Italy is traditionally continental in style with bread, pastries or cakes, yoghurt, jam and honey served with tea or coffee. Alongside the food, Italian wine is excellent and an important part of any meal! Joining Arrangements & Transfers A single transfer from Naples Airport to the group hotel is provided at lunchtime of Day 1 of the Land Only itinerary. On the last day of the Land Only itinerary you will need to make your own way to Naples Airport from the city (30-45mins). A taxi would be the easiest with a family, and cost approximately 20. If your flight schedules do not fit with these single timed airport transfers we can provide private transfers at an additional cost on day 1 from the airport to Minori. Hotel contact details and an emergency number will be provided with your booking confirmation.

PAGE 6 Accommodation We have hand selected a little family run hotel, the Hotel 7 Bello in the coastal town of Minori for 6 nights of this holiday. So it's almost centre-based! The beach is about a 2mins walk from the hotel. In Naples we stay in the centrally located Bovio Suite for 1 night. In general 3-person families will share a triple room, whilst 4-person families will have adjacent twin-bed rooms or a quad where available. We will do everything to ensure that you are happy with your rooming allocation. Some of the transfers are by public bus or public waterboat ferry. With our base being in Minori on the coast we have eliminated many of the transfers up and down the mountain (to/from Agerola) which are not great if the kids get a little car sick. Our bus rides during the week are between 10-20mins. The transfers which are in a private vehicle/minibus are basically the longer ones, including the airport pick up on day 1 to the hotel in Minori and the transfer on day 7 from Minori to Naples via Pompeii and Vesuvius. Swimming: Every day when in Minori in the sea just a few meters from our hotel. Group Leader & Support Staff The group will be led by a professional and qualified tour leader. Spending Money Approximately 500 per family (based on 2 adults and 2 children) should be allowed for tips, soft drinks, snacks, non-included meals and miscellaneous expenses. Alcoholic drinks, souvenirs and optional activities are additional so you may wish to budget for these. There will be the opportunity to change money on arrival and there are banks and ATM in the majority of the towns on the Amalfi coast. Credit cards are useful and it is a good idea to carry one in case of emergency. Guidance On Tipping Tipping is the accepted way of saying thank you to your leader and local team. Tipping is entirely voluntary and should be dependent on good service. We recommend that you decide levels of tipping and give any tips as a group rather than from individual group members. Free KE Gift We give you a free gift as a way to thank all our clients who book a KE holiday. Choose from KE T-shirts, buffs, KE trek bags* (where applicable) plus many more. Alternatively you can choose to make a 10 donation to the Juniper Trust Charity. You can make your selection in your My KE account after booking. * A trek bag is not required for this holiday. You can however purchase a KE trek bag for 24.95. Delivery outside of the UK will be charged. Baggage Allowance For this holiday you should take one piece of luggage and a daypack. Luggage with wheels is useful for this holiday. For international flights please check your baggage allowance with your airline.

PAGE 7 Group Size & Holiday Status For each holiday there is a minimum number of participants required to enable it to go ahead. Once the minimum number is reached, the trip status will change from 'Available' to 'Guaranteed to run'. You can check the trip status for each departure in Dates and Prices table. Other than in exceptional circumstances, we will not cancel a trip once it has achieved this guaranteed to run status and so you are free to proceed with your international flight booking and other travel arrangements. General Information Passport & Visas A passport with 6 months remaining validity at the end of your stay is generally required for visits to countries outside the EU. The information that we provide is for UK passport holders. Please check the relevant embassy or consulate for other nationalities. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct travel documents and visas for your holiday. Visa requirements and charges are subject to change without notice. If you are travelling outside the EU you should have at least 2 blank pages in your passport for each country that you visit. Visa Europe UK and USA passport holders do not require a visa. Health & Vaccinations You should contact your doctor or travel clinic to check whether you require any specific vaccinations. UK residents should obtain a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This entitles you to state provided medical treatment, but is not a substitute for medical travel insurance which is still vital when travelling overseas. Currency The unit of currency in Europe is the Euro. Electricity Supply & Plug We recommend you check if you require an adaptor for your electrical items at: http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/ Travel Aware As a reputable tour operator, KE supports the British Foreign & Commonwealth Offices' Travel Aware campaign to enable British citizens to prepare for their journeys overseas. The 'Travel Aware' website provides a single, authoritative source of advice for all kinds of travellers and we recommend that prior to travel, all KE clients visit the official UK Government website at travelaware.campaign.gov.uk and read the FCO Travel Advice for their chosen destination. North Americans can also check out the U.S. Department of State website: www.travel.state.gov for essential travel advice and tips. KE treat the safety and security of all clients as the most important aspect of any trip we organise. We would not run any trip that we did not consider reasonably safe. Should the FCO advise against travel for any reason, we will contact everyone booked to travel to discuss the situation. We receive regular updates direct from the FCO and

PAGE 8 are in constant touch with our contacts on the ground. If you have any questions about government travel advice, please call our office. Climate In May, June and October we can expect daytime temperatures of around 25 C, dropping at night to 15 C. We are unlikely to experience any rain, as Amalfi enjoys a favourable Mediterranean climate. During July and August you can expect hotter temperatures, up to 30 C. Flight Information Flight Inclusive Or Land Only? On our website we display a UK Flight inclusive package price and Land only package price for the majority of our holidays. Land Only Notes We sell this holiday on a Land Only basis and recommend that you book your flights to Naples International Airport which is the most convenient for transfers to the group hotel. Please refer to 'Joining Arrangements and Transfers' for further details. If flying from the UK there are a number of low cost airlines offering flights to Naples. These include Easyjet who have flights from London, Liverpool & Edinburgh. Other airports may be available. Flights SHOULD NOT be booked until you have received your booking confirmation and the departure is showing 'Guaranteed to Run' or 'Limited'. If you would prefer to book a 'flight inclusive package' using scheduled airlines from the UK please contact our flights department for a quote. Whilst flight prices are likely to be more expensive you will benefit from full financial protection. Why Choose KE Adventure Travel? Why Choose KE Adventure Travel? Experience KE has 34 years experience of adventure travel worldwide. All of our holidays are accompanied by an experienced leader, some of whom have worked with KE groups for many years. Many are professional guides and instructors with an unrivalled knowledge of the areas in which they work. In many parts of the world, we recruit local guides with appropriate training and experience. In addition to having the technical skills to ensure your safety, KE expects its leaders to be active members of the group. A leader should be fun to travel with and ready to share with you their enthusiasm for adventure travel and their knowledge of the area. Alongside the group leader, there will be a local support crew, which could be just a driver, or a complete team of guides, drivers, porters, muleherders and cooks. The hard work of our support crews, along with the fascinating insight they can offer into their local culture, is integral to providing you with the very best adventure travel experience. The team of KE office staff is amongst the most experienced in the business, with the proven ability to set up and operate a worldwide programme of adventures. Every one has adventure travel at heart and joins at least one trip

PAGE 9 a year. It is this depth of experience that makes KE stand out from other adventure travel operators. We have been awarded Highly Commended status in the Best Tour Operator category of the Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards, and were named Best Trekking Operator on Earth by National Geographic Magazine, whose criteria included commitment to responsible tourism. We continue to travel responsibly, and more information on our policy, practice, and specific projects can be found at www.keadventure.com, and on the website of our partner charity the Juniper Trust: www.junipertrust.co.uk. KEs Mountain Code is issued to our staff, trek leaders and overseas agents, and we recommend it to our clients, too! Your Complete Financial Protection KE Adventure Travel is a fully licensed and bonded tour operator. You can book your trip with KE Adventure Travel in complete confidence that all monies you pay for a trip are fully protected. BOOKING YOUR HOLIDAY Making a Booking The easiest way to make your booking is online. You will need to pay a deposit at the time of booking. This is normally 200 but for some holidays with special permit fees or internal flights, this may be more. The amount of deposit required for an individual holiday is given on the dates and prices page of the holiday. Late bookings will require full payment. We cannot confirm any booking until we receive your fully completed booking form. Adventure Travel Insurance IMPORTANT - It is a condition of joining any of our trips that you are insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). We also strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as all deposits paid are non-refundable. Please ensure that your insurer is aware of your KE Adventure itinerary and can agree to cover the activities being undertaken. You will then need to advise us of your policy details and complete an Insurance Declaration Form.

PAGE 10 CAMPBELL IRVINE DIRECT travel insurance is available to EU residents and will cover the majority of KE Adventure holidays. It has been designed to provide cover for activities normally excluded by other insurers such as trekking, mountain biking and climbing. Please note that certain activities may attract a higher premium. In addition Campbell Irvine Direct cannot provide cover for KE climbing trips above 6000m. Cover for these can be obtained through either the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) or Snowcard. TRAVELEX is a USA based insurer offering travel insurance, which can be used by US citizens and US residents only. KE recommends the "Travelex Select" package for our holidays. If your holiday involves using mountaineering equipment (ropes, harness or crampons), for climbing or glacial travel, you should consider the "Adventure Plus Pak" optional upgrade on the Travelex Select Plan. Please refer to the 'Description of Coverage' for a summary of the terms, conditions, exclusions and limitations of the applicable Protection Plan. This policy will also cover KE climbing trips above 6000m. We hope that this trip notes has answered most of your questions. Please feel free to contact us and speak to one of our experts.
