Seismic monitoring of Republic of Srpska -development of modern seismic network- First seismic station in Banja Luka has been installed after earthquakes at 26. and 27.October 1969 Hydrometeorological Service in Banja Luka is established 1992. and responsible for seismic monitoring of the territory of Republika Srpska. First digital station installed in 2005 Real-time data transmission from 2007 First bb station installed 2009 in Banjaluka by INGV /MedNet Total 3 bb

Seismic network of Republic of Srpska Significant improvement during 2010-2011 period through implementation of DETERMINE Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Slovak AID agency Results: Installation of four new stations/digitizers Wave 24/ Improved coverage of the territory significantly Increased autonomy of seismic monitoring Increased accuracy of the EQ parameters Enabling to record smaller earthquakes Establishing an automatic data processing SC3..and Automatic SMS alert

Seismic network/monitoring of Republic of Srpska current state consists of 10 +2 seismic stations: BB-3, SP-9 / 2 incomplete horizontal seismometers All sites with internet connection (3-3G, 7-ADSL, 1 leased line) Real time data transmission is provided. Data acquisition and processing center in Banja Luka Real time data exchange with all neighboring countries Runing SC3/automatic processing/sms alerting Seismic monitoring of dams Establishing accelerometric network / very slowly

Problems we face Lack of money / our Government does not recognize us as important service / A small number of employees Equipment : old/ different manufacturers/ couses different solutions as well as different problems Inadequate sites / seismic stations located mainly in the vicinity of meteorological stations/

Future plans /while waiting for EQ Unification of seismic equipment? Improving quality of seismic sites? Increase coverage of the territory/ satisfying + 3 more BUT Establishing SM network Improve /better or cheaper/ real-time data transmission satellite internet connection on selected sites/ or use AlpArray experience?? Solving the issue of permanent storage of digital seismograms Establish back-up data center further from Banja Luka/seismic hazard Keep on with seismic monitoring of capital structures and increasing number of SM instruments

Thank you

Conclusion Three AlpArray stations improve our network geometry Real time AA data are including in our daily routine AlpArray sites AO50A and AO51 excellent All three sites will be turned on permanent when project activities finish These 3 stations also need maintaining /12+3
