Ron Schane, Director tel: 570-676-3665 fax: 570-676-9388 email: camp@poconoplateau.org website: www.poconoplateau.org In the heart of the Poconos, Pocono Plateau Camp & Retreat Center is in a beautiful mountaintop setting of 750 acres of wooded land, two lakes, natural wetlands and a variety of wildlife habitats. The Plateau is just one hour from Allentown and about two hours from Philadelphia, Lancaster and New York City. Lodging & Meals The Main Site is nestled next to picturesque 25-acre Lake Pocono Plateau. Campers stay in one of several dormitories with bunk beds and common bathrooms. Three meals and an evening snack are enjoyed daily at the Dining Hall. Adventure Site campers stay in rustic cabins (no electricity) with a centrally located bathhouse. Campers cook lunch daily at their sites over an open fire. All other meals are prepared in our main kitchen and served at the Adventure Lodge. Activities While at Pocono Plateau, campers may participate in the following activities: Bible Study, Archery, Fishing, Ballfield games, Swimming, Campfires, Crafts, Worship & Singing, Boating, Canoeing, Nature Exploration, Hiking, Sports, and Challenge Courses Group-Building, High Ropes, Cooperative High Ropes, Climbing Tower, Leap of Faith and Zip-Line (some activities are age-specific). Leadership Well-trained, volunteer and paid adult staff lead campers through nurturing their spiritual development, maintaining health and safety, and teaching skills. Our nurses reside on-site under a physician s standing orders. Certified lifeguards supervise all waterfront activities. Our professional chef prepares meals. Staff and employees are subject to a criminal background screening. $? Scholarship/discount information Pocono Plateau provides limited funding for children and youth whose families have need of financial assistance. Camperships are awarded based on the availability of funds. Camper families who cannot afford the full fee should first contact their church leadership about scholarship support. If the camper s family and local church cannot cover the event cost, the family should fill out the Scholarship Request section of the Summer Camp Registration Form. A letter explaining the circumstances of the need must accompany request for scholarship. Multi-Child Discount A multi-child discount will be offered in 2015. If a household sends a second child to Pocono Plateau in the summer of 2015, they will receive a $10.00 reduction in the fee for their event. A third child will get a $30.00 reduction in the fee for their event. Additional details are available by contacting the camp office. Referral Discount If you attended a 2014 Pocono Plateau Summer Camp event you may receive a discount off your 2015 registration fee for each NEW camper you refer who attends a 2015 Pocono Plateau Summer Camp program. Refer 1 new camper = $25 off Refer 2 new campers = $50 off Refer 3 new campers = $100 off Refer 4 or more new campers = One FREE Pocono Plateau Summer Camping event You must list the friend(s) name on your registration and the new friend must list you as the referred friend on their registration. Early Bird Registrations before March 30 get a $10 Camp Store Credit Our Mission Provide opportunities for children and youth, regardless of their faith or denomination, to experience the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Recreation, Challenge and Reflection. New Adventure Site Bath House Our new bath house is much larger and can accommodate more campers at one time. Age-appropriate activities will be spaced throughout the day to allow plenty of time for your family to relax and enjoy our beautiful camp setting. In the evenings there will be campfires, singing and s mores! Create memories to last a lifetime! Join us for an opportunity to encounter God s creation with the whole family. Then this camp is just for you. Spend three fun filled days here at the Plateau! You can swim in our lake, go boating, play parachute games, and go to evening campfires. Our small counselor to camper ratio provides for lots of individual attention! When you register for a Camper Choice camp, you choose an elective to participate in every day. Campers still enjoy all of the other fun activities at camp, but you have five days of your favorite activity! The new trails will be above ground and in the trees as you experience the Climbing Tower and Zip Line. The new trails will also be on the ground living in rustic cabins, stories around a midnight campfire, and the challenge of some awesome night games. Come and join the adventure!
