Day 02 Lima (B/L/-) AM: Half day Aristocratic Lima (private) Today we will go to the Colonial part of Lima, visiting the Archbishop s Palace, situated directly on the Plaza de Armas, Lima s main square, next to the Cathedral. This important place whose construction, together with the Cathedral, started shortly after the foundation of Lima in 1535 is in the middle of town reflecting the immense power the church had in Colonial Lima. The palace was built using only the finest materials shipped in from the old world, like cedar wood and mahogany, tiles from Seville, bronze and marble. In 1924 the Archbishop s Palace was completely reconstructed and renovated. Since 2009 the palace is open to the public. Continue with the visit of Casa de Aliaga, the oldest Colonial mansion in Lima, maybe even in whole South America. The house has been owned and lived in by the Aliaga family and their descendants since Francisco Pizarro granted the land to Jerónimo de Aliaga in 1535. After the tour you will be driven to the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant to enjoy lunch in a restaurant located in the same area of the Huaca Pucllana Archaeological Center. Government Palace

This is a renowned restaurant that offers a sample of the best international Peruvian food. PM: Half day Bohemian District of Barranco and Pallas Store (private) Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the quieter side of Lima, the picturesque district of Barranco (Spanish word for cliff), known as the bohemian heart of the city because towards the end of the 19th Century it became the favorite hangout of poets, writers, painters and sculptors who were inspired by its coastal scenery. Your visit continues with a stop at Las Pallas Peruvian Folk Art Boutique (closed on Sundays), located in the bohemian district of Barranco, is an Aladdin s cave packed with treasures sourced by Mari Solari herself from all over Peru. She opened her own shop Las Pallas in 1986 and has created a flamboyant and colorful collection of native folk art that is well worth a visit for travelers looking for souvenirs or gifts to take home from their Peru adventure. After the visit you will be driven to your hotel. Overnight at Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel. Barranco District

Day 03 Lima / Cusco / Sacred Valley (B/L/-) Transfer Hotel / Lima Airport (private) At the appropriate time, our representative will meet you at the hotel lobby and transfer you to the Lima Airport to board your next flight. Today you will have the opportunity to visit Awanacancha, an Andean textile center whose key objective is to maintain the wealth of Incan textile art and keep their traditions alive. Awanacancha means the palace of weaving, here we will learn about the dyeing techniques and instruments used for hundreds of years in the weaving of these famous textiles. Continue to the Pisac Markets, which was the place of reunion for all artisans of the region to get together and exchange or buy and sell their products. Originally held only on Sundays, but due to the increase of tourism in the area during the XXth century it became increasingly popular to the point that now it is held daily. Awanacancha

Farm Chic Lunch (private) Further into the Sacred Valley, reach working Hacienda Sarapampa, a vivid expression of the culture of corn farming from its beginnings in ancient Peru until today. In Hacienda Sarapampa, learn how corn influenced the Andeans and those who followed during colonial and recent times. Visit the Giant White Corn fields and learn more about this unique crop, the stages in the process of cultivating corn (fallow, sowing, hilling, harvest) and its importance in the economy of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and its farmers. Then, enjoy a countryside five-course gourmet lunch hosted by the landowners of the Hacienda, full of anecdotes about the hacienda life, the culture of corn and the legends that surround the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After lunch you will be transferred to your hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Belmond Rio Sagrado Hotel Sacred Valley. Hacienda Sarapampa

Day 04 Sacred Valley (B/L/-) Full day Chinchero Village, Maras Saltpans & Ollantaytambo Fortress (private) Today you will set off in the direction of the Sacred Valley to the town of Chinchero, an authentic Andean village with lots of character, where we will find the colonial church that houses a large collection of painting from the Cusqueñan School of Art. Chinchero is well known for its continuing tradition as a commercial town and on Sundays the townsfolk gather in the main square to trade their products in a bartering system. Next, continue your journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to the salt fields of Maras and its seemingly never-ending terraces, where salt extracted from springs is stored. Although these waters have been used for centuries, even before the time of the Incas, Maras was founded by the Spanish in 1556. It supplied salt to the southern highlands during the viceroyalty, so it was an important town. The use of Maras Salt dates back thousands of years and is inherited from generation to generation and managed communally. Maras Saltpans

Sacred Valley Lunch at Wayra Restaurant with Peruvian Paso Horse demonstration Lunch will be served at a local ranch including a Peruvian Paso Horses demonstration; with their elegance and noble spirit, the Peruvian Paso Horse symbolizes a centuries-old tradition of cultural fusion and folklore that defines and enriches Peru. In this presentation, Paso horses from the ranch stables demonstrate their flowing gait and graceful motion to the rhythm of la marinera. Finally, visit the Inca fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo. This site was built just as the Spaniards arrived and evidence of how it was constructed is still visible. This fortress was believed to be constructed in order to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions of tribes from the jungle lowlands. Later it served as a temporary capital for Manco Inca, leader of the Inca resistance in 1537 during the Spanish conquest of Perú, who fortified the town to stop the advance, as Cusco had fallen under Spanish domination. After the tour you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight at Belmond Rio Sagrado Hotel Sacred Valley Ollantaytambo

Day 05 Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu (B/-/D) Full day excursion to Machu Picchu via roundtrip train (private) Morning transfer to the train station for an amazing Hiram Bingham train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, the great mountain-top city abandoned by the Inca Empire, reclaimed by the jungle and lost to humanity until its rediscovery in 1911. Along the way you will enjoy the changing landscape as you travel from Andean highlands to the beginnings of the jungle ( eyebrow of the jungle ), before finally arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes. From here, board the bus that will take you on a 20-minute ride up to the citadel of Machu Picchu, or Lost City of the Incas, which sits upon the summit bearing the same name, and is one of the most representative and recognized examples of Incan architecture.
