He can be found in his office every day of the year and YOU can visit him!! Every day a huge number of letters arrive at Santa s Main Post Office. In 1994 Santa received 200,000 letters and just four years later, 800,000 letters! Santa s elves sort all the letters and help Santa to read every single one of them. Then at Christmas or on New Year s Day, under their Christmas tree, excited children all over the world delight in finding the exact toy or game they have for from asked Santa Claus!!! Santa Claus Village is the most magical place all year round, for both children and adults alike!! There is something for everyone here. After posting letters at Santa's Post Office, you can buy gifts and souvenirs. In winter you can experience the excitement of a short safari in a sleigh pulled by reindeer or huskies, ride a sledge downhill and taste hot glöggi (mulled wine) in the Ice Bar. THE MOST NORTHERNMOST ZOO IN THE WORLD RANUA The zoo is approximately 1 hour south of Rovaniemi by car. Upon arrival, you will take a stroll through the zoo, where you can see the interesting animals and birds that live at the "top of the world!!". POLAR EXPLORER ICEBREAKER JOIN US FOR A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME EXPERIENCE Imagine a white frozen sea that never storms. Sea water covered in solid ice, endless, dramatic white, as far as the eye can see. Listen to the sound of crackling ice, crushed ice blocks rise from the icebreaker s hull, dark water splashes out. In the beginning of winter, the ice is no more than 30-50 cm thick, but by April it could reach up to 2 m. During the 3 h cruise you will be shown all the way down to the engine rooms and all way up to Captain s bridge. You can relax the cozy saloon, enjoying warm juice, or go for walk on the frozen sea. The icebreaker makes a pool free of ice and every visitor can take a swim in the dark icy water, in floatation survival suit. ICE WATERFALL KOROUOMA Korouoma is a 30 kilometer long geological fracture valley in Posio. It is a part of a fracture zone in the bedrock, which is hundreds of millions of years old. At the center of Korouoma the fracture valley forms a gorge with high cliff faces. Small streams which cascade down the cliff faces in the summer, freeze into beautiful frozen waterfalls during winter, making Korouoma the number one ice climbing destination in Finland. ~ 5-6 hours Transfer, guiding service, sausages on open fire and hot tee or coffee The walking path to waterfall is approximately 1, 5 km AMETHYST MINE The Lampivaara Amethyst Mine is a fascinating travel destination all year round. The amethysts of Lampivaara fell were born 2 000 million years ago, deep in the bowels of the ancient mountains. The amethyst mine is open every day between June and September, in October and in Winter 1.12 15.4 it is open from Tuesday to Saturday. During the guided tour you will learn about the geology that created the amethyst, their properties, the history of the mine and some of the uses of amethyst. After the tour, each visitor will be able to try their hand at digging for their own personal lucky amethyst! You can pass a brief course to become a "junior dog breeder" and after that you will leave on a safari (5 or 6 km) on dog sleds that hold 1-3 people (one driving, 1-2 passengers). WILD OVERNIGHT HUSKY TOUR Every Saturday from the middle of January we hook up our dogs and go for an exhilarating trek to a beautiful wilderness cabin in the silent Lapland forest. Please feel free to join us!! All you need is a sense of adventure and a willingness to participate!! During this tour customers will be expected to help with the daily management of the dogs, and the chores related to staying in the cabins. The tour is suited for participants of a normal physical condition Saturday. Husky tour to the wilderness cabin: We pick you up from your hotel in Rovaniemi in the morning. After a transfer of about 45 minutes we arrive at the kennel and meet the dogs. We pack our sleds, hook up our dogs and set out for an exciting days travel. Lunch is eaten around a campfire in the middle of the Lapland wilderness. In the afternoon we will arrive at the cabin, allow the dogs to rest and sit down for a well-earned cup of coffee and some cake. Before dinner there is the possibility to enjoy a refreshing sauna. Sunday. After breakfast we prepare our dog-teams and prepare to leave the cabin. We travel for most of the day through the beautiful scenery of Lapland. Lunch is again eaten around a campfire. In the evening we return to the kennel, return our dogs to their places for a well-deserved rest, and say our farewells. SNOWMOBILE SAFARIS SAFARI 2 HOURS On the snowmobile adventure, you have the fantastic opportunity to experience the unique countryside of the North. The frozen river acts as a snowmobile route made by Mother Nature. NIGHT SAFARI (SEARCH FOR THE NORTHERN LIGHTS) 3 HOURS An opportunity to drive a snowmobile through snowy forest and along the river in the shadows of the evening. During the safari, you can admire the starry night, the moon and if you are lucky you will see the Aurora Borealis. The guide will light up a bonfire and we will enjoy a picnic while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear. Everyone can grill traditional Finnish sausages on the fire and we serve Lappish berry juice to keep yourself warm. Self ride is suitable for children up to 11-12 years, smaller kids will be helped by the parent or guide. ADRENALIN SAFARI This snowmobile safari will give you a chance to ride your own snowmobile on wild forest around the Santa Claus Village area. We will take you off from the crowded trails and have some fun with the sporty snowmobiles. Group size is maximum 8 people, single driving for adults only, no passengers. The driver of a snowmobile has to be at least 15 years old and hold a valid driver license A1, T, A or B category. ~ 2 hours All equipment, driving instruction, driving ~ 30 km, guiding service. SNOWMOBILE SAFARI TO REINDEERS FARM Drive on a snowy river as quick as the wind to the reindeer farm, which is situated on the riverbank. You will be given a cordial welcome from the owner of the farm. He will tell you everything about the life on a farm and everything you need to know about the reindeer. After a quick briefing on how to handle the reindeer sled, you can ride in the real sled by yourself. After the ride hot tea and cookies await you. SNOWSHOEING SAFARI Snowshoeing is a great way to experience Lapland wintry wildernesses, enjoy the fresh and clean air and get some exercise. People in the Arctic areas have been using snowshoes already for centuries, they were intended to assist people in travelling the snowy landscapes. ~ 2,5 hours All equipment, driving instruction, distance ~1,5-3 km, guiding service. ICE FISHING There is nothing better than to drive through the wild forest to a real polar lake. Here, with the instructor s assistance, you will make holes in the ice with an auger. You have to have patience, skill and some luck to catch a fish! The catch is counted and photographs taken for souvenirs. When spending time in a sauna, you should always listen to your body and do as you feel best. There is no such thing as "the right way" to bathe in the sauna, so don't be scared!! For the first time you could stay in for just a few minutes, depending on the temperature. If you want to cool down, you can go outside and have a roll in the snow, make some snow angels, or even take a dip in the icy lake in true Finnish style! After cooling down for a while, go back into the sauna again and maybe stay a bit longer! When you have finished, you can just sit down outside and admire the beautiful Lapland scenery. You can marvel at the midnight sun and swim in the Langonlampi lake. There is electricity, but no running water in the venue, so we heat the sauna with wood and carry the washing water from the lake.
