THE HIGHEST CASTLE 3 days 2 nights The castle of Segura de la Sierra, the highest in the Natural Park, was used in medieval times to control a vast territory. Today, your awestruck eyes can gaze the same landscape, shaped by centruries of fertile alliances, from the castle s battlements: pine forests and olive trees that are waved together, tiny hamlets which dialogue with the massive mountains, and rivers that carried forests. Through small roads, forest tracks and paths, you can penetrate in the forests of Río Madera, the best Corsican pine in Spain. You can also climb to the top of spectacular mountain lookouts, such as Espino, Peñalta and Cambrón. SEASONALITY All year GROUP SIZE 10 to 25 people. PROGRAM 3 days - 2 nights Day 1. Arrival at accommodation and, depending on the available time for the group, leisure or optional activity. Dinner at the accommodation. Day 2. Trail to Peñalta, approx. 3 to 4 h. This route could be substituted for ½ day bike path or 4x4 route through the area (with a supplement of 18 =/person). Lunch on your own and free time to rest or to do an optional activity (see table). Dinner at accommodation. Day 3. Breakfast and check out of the hotel, followed by a tour on the Historic-Artistic Segura de la Sierra and Castle (entrance not included). Lunch on your own during the route and end of services. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES (*) ACTIVITY UNDER PROGRAM Trail to Peñalta. We will go by car from the town of Orcera to Benatae where a forest track that leads from the house to the summit Pilarillo Peñalta starts. It runs mostly by pine forest of black pine, beneath it grows a thick undergrowth of holm oaks, kermes oaks, junipers, rockrose and herbs like rosemary, thyme and lavender. At the summit, which is the crowning of a sharp Lastra, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic of Segura and the neighboring Cazorla and Las Villas, until sight is lost in the plains of La Mancha. The fox and the squirrel are abundant, and you may see wild goats at the summit. Among the raptors is included the peregrine falcon, short-toed eagles and vultures. Approximate length: from 3h.30min. A 4 h. Distance: 10.5 miles Difficulty: Medium. (*) ACTIVITY UNDER PROGRAM Guided tour to the castle and the town of Segura de la Sierra. Segura mountains, named by the town, is crowned by a majestic castle themed on the Roman, Arab and Christian, with the Order of the Knights of Santiago. Segura, also recounts the life passages of the universal poet Jorge Manrique, natural of Segura. It is one of the towns with best views of the Natural Park, declared Picturesque and Historic-Artistic landscape. Duration: 3 to 4 hours. Distance: 3kms Slope: 120mts Difficulty: Low ENTERPRISE: Olivair Archery and Tirolina (zip line) The word Tirolina comes from the Alpine region of Tyrol. In the past it was a method to transport loads between two points above the ground and are usually used in the Himalayas to cross the river channels during floods and gorges. If you dare, you will experience a sense of adventure and fun that you will not forget. Archery is a simple activity that will remind highlights of our past history, competing on a scoring target. Approximate length: 1.30 m. to 2 h. Difficulty: medium Circuit of bridges between trees or Arborismo At the heart of the Amazon, naturalists built bridges at the tops of the giant trees to move from tree to tree and make their contemplations. Here you can enjoy a real adventure in the heights. This is a circuit built in the treetops, with different types of bridges (Himalayan monkey Tibetan...), for which you will have to go through. Approximate duration of 2h.
DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES Guidance Circuit With the help of a map and compass you should find all hidden beacons in the heart of the forest and learn the basic rules to know your way around the wilderness Paratrike and paragliding tandem flight This is a tricycle vehicle, with elements of the ultralight aircraft industry (motor, wheels, etc.). The passenger is in the front seat, the pilot gives an instruction through the intercom, and after the inflation of the wing and a surprising acceleration, the lift force us hanging sweetly in heaven. Recommended especially for people with mental problems or physically handicapped. The paragliding take off is on foot; a little breeze, determined steps and the Sierra de Segura will be placed at your feet. The absence of noise, except for the relative wind, magically sorrounds this type of flight, the simplest and lightest known. Our drivers are certified by the competent authority in this sector. ENTERPRISE: Olivair Visit to the Castle of Hornos, Cosmolarium + workshop of the universe, (especially for groups by appointment). Optional activity, where you have to travel to the town of Hornos, and once in the castle, enjoy the Universe Package that consists of: 1. Customized Planetarium Activity of about 1 hour (includes several projections adapted to the age and the group). 2. Activites and exhibitions of astronomy in the castle of Hornos of Segura. 3. * A workshop activity to choose from sundials, star challenge or celestial planisphere. Approx duration 2.30 h. ENTERPRISE: Eurocosmos. Canoes in Tranco We propose an initiation activity, ideal to come in contact with the sport. Small or long distance journeys can be made according to the level of the participants. Approx. 1 to 3h. Horse riding Riding from one to two hours, in groups of 7 pax. inside of the estate of The Contadero. This activity is intended for everyone, both horse riding enthusiasts, who enjoy beautiful gallops; and for those who have never ridden a horse, who will be able to enjoy a pleasant walk outdoors. The routes are adapted to the age and level of the participants.
