The route Day 1 Meet at your hotel in the centre of Chamonix SIGNAL FORBES - LA MER DE GLACE Take the Aiguille du Midi cable car to the mid station Plan de l'aiguille and hike along a balcony trail through the alpine pastures of la Blaitière to the Forbes signal (2200m). Descend along the the Mer de Glace facing the Aiguille des Drus and the Grandes Jorasses. Descend to Chamonix on foot or on the Montenvers train. Overnight in Chamonix. 4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +200m -500m (-900m extra if descending to Chamonix on foot) Day 2 LAC CORNU Take the Planpraz telecabine and walk to Lac Cornu (2250m). Panoramic view of the entire Mont Blanc range, the Aravis and Faucigny mountains. Descend to Chamonix by the Planpraz telecabine or on foot. Overnight in Chamonix. 4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +600m -600m (-1000m extra if descending to Chamonix on foot) Day 3 LAC BLANC Take the Flégère cablecar and walk along a balcony trail to Lac Blanc (2350m) and the Chésery lakes. This stage allows you to enjoy the most famous panoramic views of Mont Blanc. Overnight in Argentière. Possibility to descend in the Flégère cablecar to avoid 500m of descent and take a bus to Argentiere from Les Praz/Flégère. Overnight in Argentière. 4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +600m -600m (-500m extra if descending on foot) Day 4 COL DE BALME - AIGUILLETTE DES POSSETTES Small bus transfer to the village of Le Tour and circuit hike to the Col de Balme and the Aiguillette des Posettes. Panoramic view of the Mont Blanc and the glaciers of Le Tour and Argentière. Descend through the alpine pastures to Montroc-Le Tour. Return by train or bus to Chamonix. 5 hour walk / Elevation: +950m -950m End point during the afternoon at Montroc-le-Planet. Return night train: Depart Les Houches at 6:32pm arrive in (Paris) Gare de Lyon at 06:18am. Times given are indicative and should be verified in a train station or on www.voyages-sncf.com BY CAR Take the A40 motorway to Chamonix, FREE PARKING: There is ample parking at Chemin du Biolay, opposite the Montenvers train station, Chamonix. If you wish to leave your car in a covered garage, contact: Chamonix Auto Park: 04 50 53 65 71 (40 to 50 per week). Your baggage will be transported daily between accommodation by our logistics vehicle. You are allowed 1 soft, sports type bag with all your possessions inside, no heavier than 10kg (for your own ease and comfort carrying your bag up stairs and in the dormitories, we do not advise rigid suitcases, heavy or large baggage). If you wish to prolong your holiday, we can safely hold another bag for you which you may leave with us at the departure point and it will be deposited at the end point with your other baggage.
