What is the difference between ADS-B In vs. Out A. ADS-B In squitters every 7 seconds. B. ADS-B In brings data into the cockpit for use by the flight crew. ADS-B Out provides additional information broadcast from vehicles more quickly to the controllers. C. Pilots use ADS-B Out inside the cockpit to receive position reports from other aircraft D. Mandates L-3 Communications Proprietary 18

What is the FAA ADS-B Mandate? January 1, 2020, when operating in the airspace designated in 14 CFR 91.225, you must be equipped with ADS-B Out avionics that meet the performance requirements of 14 CFR 91.227. Aircraft not complying with the requirements may be denied access to this airspace. ADS-B Out is mandated, and only within certain airspace. Title 14 CFR 91.225 defines the airspace within which these requirements apply. L-3 Communications Proprietary 19

I am an ATP and fly above FL 180. When do I need to equip my aircraft with 1090 Extended Squitter (DO-260B)? A. January 2014, when the ground stations are all active. B. I do not need to plan for these changes as the manufacturer will send me new updated transponders. C. In the US, I need to equip by 2020. If I am flying internationally, I will ensure compliance if I equip by December 2017. D. Above FL 180, I do not need to comply with these mandates if I am RVSM-compliant.
