Flight Delays Module and its Functionalities Within the Flight Delays module, you have the ability to perform the following: Auto-generate Flight Delay records Manually create a Flight Delay record View/Modify previously submitted Flight Delay records Access Flight Delay Module To access the Flight Delays Module, navigate to Flight Delays under Measurements in the Main Menu. From this menu, you have the option of navigating to one of the following: 1. Open Flight Delays Provides a list of open, chargeable flight delays for your respective Catering Unit(s) 2. All Flight Delays Provides a list of all chargeable flight delays (open and closed reports) for all Catering Units Last Updated: 01JAN2013 Page 3 of 15 Flight Delays (External User)
Auto-generate Flight Delay Records To auto-generate flight delay records, complete the following steps: 1. Navigate to Open Delays within Flight Delays under Measurements in the Main Menu. 2. Within Open Delays, select the + Pull Flight Delay button. This feature enables the Quality First system to check the United Airlines operational system for Food Services delays. If a Food Service delay for your respective Catering Unit(s) was incurred, the Quality First system will automatically generate a record for the given delay and it will display in your Open Delay list. You will receive a confirmation that the flight delay import is complete. Confirmation that import of flight delays is complete Last Updated: 01JAN2013 Page 4 of 15 Flight Delays (External User)
3. If a delay is automatically added to your Open Flight Delay list, access the record by selecting on the ID number of the respective record. 4. Upon opening a flight delay report that has been created by the system, you will be directed to the Flight Delay' tab. Certain fields within this tab are automatically populated. These fields include basic flight information such as scheduled departure date, flight number, origin, destination, etc. You will be required to fill out any missing data within the Flight Delay tab. Select Save to save any changes/additions made to the Flight Delay tab. Initial Delay Explanation Provide brief description of the cause of the delay Aircraft Met on Arrival: Indicate whether or not Transportation was in position to Caterer the aircraft when it arrived at the gate Opportunity to Recode Indicate whether or not the unit believes there is opportunity for the station to recode the delay away from Food Services Scheduled Aircraft Arrival Indicate scheduled arrival time of the aircraft at the gate Scheduled Kitchen Departure Indicate scheduled departure time of Transportation from the kitchen Scheduled Field Departure Indicate time that Transportation expects to complete servicing the aircraft Actual Aircraft Arrival Indicate actual arrival time of the aircraft at the gate Actual Kitchen Departure Indicate actual time that Transportation departs from the kitchen to service the aircraft Actual Field Departure Indicate actual time that Transportation complete servicing the aircraft Last Updated: 01JAN2013 Page 5 of 15 Flight Delays (External User)
5. Navigate to one of the remaining tabs to enter additional delay information. Select Save to save any changes to the additional tabs. a. Flight Delay Recode Details (To be completed if delay is recoded) i. Modified Delay Code Automatically populates with modified delay code in the event the delay is recoded in the United Airlines Operational System Note: This field is read only to the Catering Unit/Caterer ii. Recode Details Enter explanation for why the delay was recoded away from Food Services b. Final Delay Details and Root Cause i. Final Delay Explanation Enter finalized details on cause(s) of the delay, including root cause details that identify the key failure in the process. ii. c. Improvement Action Plans i. Enter details on the root cause corrective action plan, including who will be accountable for implementing the improvement, implementation date and the Catering Unit s plan for monitoring the improvements Note: You have the ability to add multiple items. d. e. Status (Read-only to the Caterer/Catering Unit) i. Locked Box will be checked if the report is in the Locked status. Reports in the locked status can no longer be modified. ii. Report Closed Box will be checked if the report is in the Closed status. Field indicates that the details in the report, including the root cause, improvement actions and chargeability have been finalized by the Catering Unit and Food Services. Manually Create a Flight Delay Record Note: The Pull Flight Delays functionality should always be utilized prior to manually creating a flight delay record. A flight delay record should only be created if you know your Catering Unit has incurred a delay and the delay did not appear in your list after utilizing the Pull Flight Delay functionality. To manually create a flight delay record, complete the following steps: 1. Navigate to Open Delays within Flight Delays under Measurements in the Main Menu. 2. 3. When manually creating a flight delay report, you will initially be provided with the ability to enter details into the Flight Delay tab only. After you save the report, Food Services must accept the manually created flight delay report before you can enter details into the remaining tabs of the report. Once Food Services accepts your manually created flight delay report, the remaining tabs of the report will appear and you may enter additional details. Note: Certain fields within the Flight Delay tab are required to save the report. Once these respective fields are populated, you may save the report and access at a later time to enter information into the additional tabs. a. Note: The remaining tabs of the report will only appear once your manually created flight delay report has been accepted by Food Services. The system will prevent records with the same Scheduled Departure Date, Flight Number and Origin from being created in the system. b. View/Modify Previously Submitted Flight Delay Records To view/modify previously submitted flight delay records, complete the following steps: 1. Navigate to Open Delays within Flight Delays under Measurements in the Main Menu Note: You can also access your Catering Unit s open flight delay records from All Delays. 2. 3. Once the record is open, you can perform the following: a. View When you are finished viewing the record, select Close to exit the record. b. Modify Modify the appropriate fields within the record. Select Save to keep any changes made to the record and then Close to exit the record. Note: You will NOT be able to modify a record that is locked nor will you be able to modify records of other Catering Units. You can only view other Catering Units records.
