Welcome to the 7th CIARG International Conference 2010: Corporate Associations in Turbulent Times: Creating and Sustaining Ethical Corporate Identities Welcome to the 7th CIARG International Conference, this year hosted by the Institute of Marketing and Management. 16 papers were accepted for presentation and we are welcoming David Whetten as keynote speaker. We think you will enjoy the relevance, timeliness, and quality of the papers, the discussions and the workshop sessions. We are pleased to present you with the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Hannover. Our local arrangement team have been invaluable in providing the Conference with the opportunity to visit these venues in the heart of Hannover. The team s effort allow for numerous networking opportunities as well as social activities that allow you to experience the culture of Germany. There will be a reception in the evening of October 1 at the Conference venue. During the Conference, do not miss the Nightout on Friday evening or the Conference Dinner on Saturday evening (October 2). DIRECTIONS GENERAL TRAVEL INFORMATION By train Hannovers Central Station (Hannover Hauptbahnhof (Hbf)) is located in the city centre and is served by the tram: Regional trains and direct ICE/IC service (e.g., to Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt a.m.) and all other major German cities, direct regional train service to Hannover Airport. For more information: Deutsche Bahn (ICE/IC) and regional trains, please visit http://www.bahn.com Trams/City Buses (üstra), please visit: http://www.uestra.de/index.html?&l=1 By air The Hannover Airport is located 10 km from Hannover city centre. It serves more than 100 national and international destinations (http://www.hannover airport.de/index.php?&l=1). Taxi service from the airport to the city centre is available, the taxi ranks are directly at the arrivals building exits. Length of ride: 20 minutes and costs approx. EUR 25. From Hannover Central Station to the airport: Whether you are travelling with the S bahn (train), the train station is in Terminal C and directly in front of Terminal C. The S5 Hannover Airport line runs from 4.30 am until midnight every 30 minutes and takes you directly to Terminal C. It takes about 15 minutes. You must buy your ticket and stamp it if required before you get on the train. One way from Hannover Central Station currently costs EUR 2.80 per person. Escalators and elevators will take you directly from the train station to departures. It is the biggest lake in Hannover City but be aware of the big catfishes swimming near the banks! 3 ALTSTADT Half timbered buildings, museums and sights in Hannover s old core. 5 HANNOVER OPER (OPERA) Classical Style building with two large wings and a balcony with statues of famous poets and composers in Hannovers City centre. 6 HANNOVER ZOO The zoo of Hannover with its over 2000 animals and seven different themed worlds is one of Europe s loveliest zoos. Every year Hannover Zoo welcomes more than 1.2 million visitors.
