THE ITINERARY Day 5 Trinidad - Cayo Santa Maria Half Day Island Tour (Approx. 200km Day) Enjoy the cool air and spectacular scenery of the Sierra del Escambray. The first stop is 800 metres above sea level, where there will be an explanation about the area and its remarkable history and ecotourism. The nearby Casa del Café serves delicious coffee - after all the area is famous for its excellent coffee production. This will be followed by a gentle walk along the Melodious River, which boasts many natural pools and a waterfall where you can swim. This victory is considered the decisive moment in the Cuban Revolution. Erected twenty years after his untimely death, the Monument Ernesto Che Guevara is the city s main tourist attraction and a pilgrimage site for many. The aweinspiring mausoleum houses the remains of Che Guevara and sixteen of his fellow combatants killed in 1967 in Bolivia (free entry).
