During my visits in the past month I have had the pleasure of presenting a number of awards, including Monarch Chevrons for service for periods ranging from 10 years to 50 years, and I marvel at the number of service hours these members have collectively put in. Robbie is temporarily residing in Ballarat, and on the night of the meeting he caught the train from Ballarat to Ballan to attend the meeting, and booked a taxi to take him back to Ballarat. How many of us would show this determination to get to a Club meeting? My guess is not many. With this dedication and determination it is no wonder that he regularly gets such great results with his Mint Sales. During the past month the District Governor Team has visited 13 Clubs and attended 2 Club Charter nights. I can t speak for Vice Governors Maureen and Naga, but the hospitality shown to Coralie and myself has been outstanding. Some highlights come easily to mind, one of them being our visit to Birchip. We both had some interesting experience with our name badges. I lost mine whilst refueling at Wycheproof and didn t realize it was missing until 2 days later when I received a phone call from Wycheproof Lions president, John Morrison. My badge was found and passed on to John. No doubt his Club will extract a reward for its return when I visit them. Before we sat down at Birchip, 1st Vice President George Ray, who was running the meeting, realized that he had forgotten his dinner badge. He was about to go back home to get it, but it was a foul night out so Coralie said Don t worry about it George, I will lend you mine, which she did. George proudly wore the District Governor s wifes badge for the full night, despite many of the members referring to him as Coralie. I managed to get a photo of George wearing the badge. I had the extreme pleasure of presenting two Charter certificates, one to the Lions Club of Continued on Page 3... Both were excellent and friendly nights and I thank the two Presidents, Brian and Scott, for their hospitality. I wish both Clubs well and hope that all of their members get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from their contributions to their respective communities. And a heartfelt thanks to those who contributed so much to the formation of these two Clubs Kevin Tait District Governor.
