Protected from the elements the 56th floor affords a 360 view of the avenues, roofs, monuments and gardens across the city. Just a few steps further up you can admire the same views from the open-air terrace on the very top of the tower. Eiffel Tower Price from: 7 per student / 9 per teacher (for 2nd floor lift entrance) Visited by more than 5 million people each year, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most well known monuments in the world, and as the tallest structure in Paris it dominates the city s skyline. An iron lattice tower it was erected in 1889 as the entrance arch to the World s Fair held that year. Although initially criticised by artists and intellectuals of the day it is probably Paris s best-known landmark. The 2nd floor is perfect for making a photographic study of Paris. The only down-side, apart from the queues, you can t see the Eiffel Tower from the Eiffel Tower! Standing at the top of the Champs-Elysées at the highest point along the line running from the Louvre to the Grande Arche de la Défense, it links old and new Paris. Napolean had the arch constructed in 1806 in honour of France s great army and it is also home to the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. From the top of the monument, visitors benefit from a panoramic view of Paris, during the day and at night, and the museum situated within the structure retraces its history. Notre Dame Cathedral Price from: 30 per group (arranged in groups of 35 students, includes 2 FREE teacher places) / Additional teachers 6.50 each An absolute masterpiece of Gothic architecture, Notre Dame is not to be missed, for its architecture, its stained-glass windows, its sculptures, and its history. A self-guided visit at the Notre Dame lasts approximately one hour. Montmartre & Sacré Coeur Price from: FREE entrance to the church / Dome and crypt 6 per person An officially designated historic district, Montmartre is one of the most colourful neighbourhoods in Paris, so it s no surprise that this area is a favourite with visitors to the city. It became famous in late 1800s with the arrival of artists such as Renoir, Van Gogh and Picasso. Topped by the Scare Coeur, Montmartre is the highest hill in Paris at 130 metres, providing great free views over the city. Completed in 1912, the Sacré Coeur is relatively new in comparison to other churches and cathedrals in Paris. In a Roman-Byzantine style, the Sacré Coeur is recognizable by its white colour. Inside the building, the ceiling is decorated with the largest mosaic in France measuring about 480 m². Experience the fantastic view over Montmartre and Paris northern suburbs from the steps below the Sacré Coeur or for an even better panorama climb the 300 steps to the dome. Place de la Concorde Price from: FREE The largest open space in Paris, the 84,000 square metres of Place de la Concorde is situated along the Seine and separates the Tuileries Gardens from the beginning of the Champs-Elysées. Jardins du Luxembourg Île de la Cité Price from: FREE The Île de la Cité is one of two remaining islands in the River Seine and the historical and geographical centre of Paris. Home to the famous Notre Dame cathedral and the Palais de Justice, the modern Supreme Court built in the 18th century, which is also home to La Conciergerie. Jardin du Tuileries Price from: FREE Paris most visited gardens, situated between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. The gardens feature several fountains, numerous sculptures and two museums, the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume and the Museé de l Orangerie. Jardins du Luxembourg Price from: FREE Visit the largest public park in Paris. The garden is famed for its calm atmosphere. Free musical performances are held in the park bandstands and music groups can request to perform here. The garden also contains over a hundred statues, monuments and fountains. Central to the trail is a sense of engagement with these world famous sights, turning a standard sight-seeing expedition into a three-dimensional multi-faceted experience using key skills such as creative and lateral thinking, observational and puzzle-solving skills. Team-based and competitive, the trail produces winners who demonstrate team-work and strategy as well as aptitude and attention to detail as well as showcasing the iconic sights of one of the world s greatest capital cities. Today it houses treasures from the Egyptians, Etruscans, Greeks and Romans in their own extensive galleries. There are European works from the Middle Ages up to the 19th century with some of the most famous works of art in the world on show, including the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Wedding Feast at Cana. Musée d Orsay Price from: FREE general admission (requires student and teacher ID) The Musee d Orsay is located in the centre of Paris, on the banks of the Seine. Originally a train station, the museum houses one of the finest collections of Impressionist art in the world. Throughout 80 separate galleries it features art from the period 1848 to 1914, with works by Delacroix, Degas, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Cezanne, Van Gogh and many others. Musée de l Orangerie Price from: FREE general admission for students / 9 per teacher Visit Monet s Waterlilies installed in two galleries once hailed as the Sistine Chapel of Impressionism at l Orangerie museum. Home to modern- art collections of Paul Guillaume and Jean Walter, l Orangerie also features paintings by Renoir, Cézanne and Picasso, amongst others. Musée Picasso Paris Price from: 5 per person After a five-year renovation the Musée Picasso art gallery located in the well-known Hôtel Salé in the Marais district of Paris has re-opened. With the exhibition space having been doubled in size it has allowed many more works of the master s work to be on display and new tours created of the collections. Donated to the French state after the artist s death this unique collection is composed of 5,000 pieces by the artist, more than 200,000 personal archives. The rare diversity of his collections is an invitation to endlessly explore the powerful work of this artist a painter, sculptor, ceramicist, photographer and writer-through a multitude of thematic tours and experiences.
