Jointly organised by Guangdong International Science and Technology Exhibition Company (STE) and Messe Frankfurt, the fair took place from 9 to 12 March 2013 at the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou, China. Commenting on the growth in visitor numbers, Mr Hanrong Wu, a Director of STE said: The double digit growth for both local visitors of 11.3 percent and 21 percent for international visitors reflects our huge efforts to develop the fair into the number one sourcing event taking place in Southern China s largest pro audio and lighting manufacturing base. Page 2 them even noticed that the visitor and overall show quality had shown improvement. Participants valued ProSound + Light Guangzhou as a vital trading platform in Southern China With its convenient location in China s major pro audio and lighting manufacturing base, the show attracted many local manufacturers, wanting to broaden their businesses in global markets. First-time exhibitor, Chromateq from France, was previewing its new Pro DMX with audio and video timeline synchronisation which will be officially released in April. Mr Vianney Bourjot, General Manager of the company said: The fair is an important occasion for showing our new product and to network with our business partners and new potential clients. We received many buyer enquiries from Europe, India, Malaysia and Thailand. In addition to the convenient location, the show is also held during the peak sourcing time, which is a key attraction for exhibitors. Ms Crystal Lau, Overseas Department Manager for Guangzhou Charming Lighting Co Ltd commented: This is the best time to get in touch with our customers and potential buyers as most of them are coming to source and prepare to make orders in May and June. Suppliers were happy with the new affiliation between STE and Messe Frankfurt. Representing local top sound system brand SoundKing, Mr Feng Yu said: When we knew Messe Frankfurt would jointly organise ProSound + Light Guangzhou, we decided to take part as we believe this new joint venture will bring quality and more visitors to the show. SoundKing was showcasing their patented electronic microphone stands.
Page 3 Mr Huitang Feng, Pro Audio Division General Manager for ARTSOUND, a Chinese agent for Sennheiser, shared the same sentiment. He said: This is a very influential show for the industry and it has been improving year-on-year. I hope to see more leading international brands and suppliers at the show after the affiliation with Messe Frankfurt. Meanwhile, some exhibitors considered the show to be a good opportunity to increase their exposure in Chinese market. Harman Professional is one such company and was presenting their JBL Entertainment system. Ms Vinne Peng, the company s Marketing & Communication Manager, commented: We are highlighting our entertainment audio system the first time ever in China as we believe this show can help us reach the massive entertainment market in China. We are pleased to meet with professional Chinese buyers during the show. Full range of products to fulfil multiple sourcing needs With 922 exhibitors offering pro audio, lighting, LED and entertainment products and technologies, plus the show s location in the industry s manufacturing hub, it was well attended by buyers from around the world. Indian buyer, Mr Ashu Kohl from Midnight Blues said: It s a very comprehensive show. You can find everything you need here. I found stage lighting products from our existing suppliers in Guangzhou. Mr James Cunningham, Director of Smart Digital Australia was impressed with his first-time visit: I used to do online sourcing but here I can talk to my suppliers face-to-face for what I want and I found suppliers of audio products for outdoor systems.
Page 4 Mr Mark Fay, a representative for DJBox from the Ireland commented: It is important for me to come and see what s happening in the industry development in China. This is certainly worth a trip. I also found some of the latest speakers, consoles and amplifiers produced in China. Colombian visitor Mr Samuel Velandia, Manager of Ciberlight added: There is a wide range of lighting products from LEDs, laser systems to stage lighting. This is an ideal sourcing destination for me! Representing Legacy Music Distribution from the US, Mr Jan Sitoe said: The show is getting bigger every year. I am confident that the participation of Messe Frankfurt will bring in more international brands and open up more business opportunities for the industry. Chinese buyer Mr Gang Fu, Deputy General Manager of Kingland commented: I am surprised with the large scale of the show. I have found some strong local manufacturers of pro-audio products and looking forward to doing business with them. Fringe programmes highlighted industry development and business opportunities This year s show also offered forums, seminars and product demonstrations. Lighting Technology for Television Forum and Event was held from 8 to 10 March to encourage technology exchange in the television business sector. Mr Wei Cheng He, Deputy General Manager and Vice Officer of the Production Department for Guangdong Television, was pleased with the event. He said: It is a good place to understand the new development of TV lighting technology which will help our business too. Also the show visit after the forum gives us a
Page 5 chance to source new products and to exchange ideas with business partners, he added. To reinforce business networking between suppliers and buyers, online trade portal HC360 organised a business matching programme on the first day of the show. One of the participating buyers, Mr Gong Ping Yu representing Xin Lian Xin, a distributor of KTV stage and pro audio and KTV systems commented: This business matching programme is a convenient platform to meet with different suppliers and keep us up-to-date with the different product technologies. It s very well organised. The Annual Meeting for the Guangdong Association of Performing Arts Guangdong and Performing Industry Exchange and Trading Forum were held on 10 March and were well attended by industry peers. Mr Wei Qing He, General Secretary of the Guangdong Trade Association For Performance spoke at the end of the forum. He said: ProSound + Light Guangzhou is always an excellent destination to hold such forum for our members. They can learn the latest market development through the forum, exchange industry technologies with others, and source the latest products right at the production hub. I am looking forward to the new ongoing cooperation between STE and Messe Frankfurt which will further enhance the show s recognition in the international pro audio and lighting industry.
