GERMAN RHAPSODY 11 Nights / 12 Days Day 01 Arrive Frankfurt Arrive at Frankfurt today. You will be met by a local representative and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure on own. Frankfurt, a central German city on the river Main, is a major financial hub that's home to the European Central Bank. It's the birthplace of famed writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, whose former home is now the Goethe House Museum. Like much of the city, it was damaged during World War II and later rebuilt. The reconstructed Altstadt (Old Town) is the site of Römerberg, a square that hosts an annual Christmas market. This old imperial city on the River Main - hence its full name, Frankfurt am Main - is, by virtue of its central situation, the most important commercial and economic center on mainland Europe. The city's skyline, dominated by the great cluster of high-rise buildings in the banking quarter, has a distinct North American flavor, earning Frankfurt the nicknames "Manhattan" and "Chicago on the Main. Frankfurt also has huge trade fair complex, Messe Frankfurt, hosting important events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair (the world's most important publishing event), along with many fine museums, galleries, and gardens. Day 02 Frankfurt Rhine Cruise Cologne Dusseldorf After breakfast, check out and proceed first to take the Rhine Cruise cruise through the UNESCO listed Rhine Valley on a boat, see landmarks like the Loreley Rock and Rudesheim, sample wines from the Rhine Valley region, then stop for lunch and then proceed north along the Rhine Valley before arriving in Cologne, Germany s fourth largest and oldest city. See the impressive Gothic Cathedral regarded as a masterwork of medieval architecture. Cologne also has innumerable cultural and historical treasures, world-famous museums and active art scene. Then proceed to Dusseldorf - is a city in western Germany

known for its fashion industry and art scene. It's divided by the Rhine River, with its Altstadt (Old Town) on the east bank and modern commercial areas to the west. Streets such as Königsallee and Schadowstrasse are lined with boutique shops. Check in at your hotel in Dusseldorf. It has a zinging nightlife and an art scene to rival other cities. All it takes is a few hours of bar-hopping around the Altstadt, the historical quarter along the Rhine, to realize that locals have no problem letting their hair down once they shed those Armani jackets. Overnight at Dusseldorf hotel. Day 03 Dusseldorf Hamelin Hamburg After breakfast, check out and drive through the Lower Saxony region, and stop at Hamelin en route to Hamburg. Hamelin is a picturesque town of fairytale fame and is immortalised in poems by Goethe and Robert Browning. Hamelin is best known for the tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Then proceed to Hamburg. Arrive at Hamburg and check in at your hotel. Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It's crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland. Near its core, Inner Alster lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cafes. The city's central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael s Church. It is also one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. See the Hamburg Town Hall, then see the Miniatur Wunderland discover the largest model railway system in the world! Hamburg has many large churches - but only one "Michel": On its platform 106 metres high, there is a fabulous (and breezy) view of Hamburg, the port and the surrounding countryside one that should not be missed! The city's central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael s Church. Visit the St. Pauli and the Reeperbahn also called Kiez and is Hamburg number one entertainment district. Day 04 Hamburg Berlin After breakfast, check out and transfer to Berlin. Follow the valley of the River Elbe from Hamburg, across the former 'Iron Curtain' to the historic city of Berlin. Berlin, Germany s capital, dates to the 13th century. Reminders of the city's turbulent 20th-century history include its Holocaust memorial and the Berlin Wall's graffitied remains. Divided during the Cold War, its 18th-century Brandenburg Gate has become a symbol of reunification. The city's also known for its art scene and modern landmarks like the gold-colored, swoop-roofed Berliner Philharmonie, built in 1963. Check in at your hotel in Berlin. Then proceed for sightseeing see the Reichstag Building - Situated just north of the Brandenburg Gate, this building houses the German Parliament and was the seat of the Weimar Republic government until it was seized by the Nazis in 1933. Then see the Brandenburg Gate - Located in no-man's land between East and West Germany during the Cold War, this famous monument, built during the 18th-century reign of Friedrich Wilhelm II, has long been a defining symbol of Berlin and both the city's division and unification. See the Memorial of the Berlin Wall - The Berlin Wall Memorial is the central memorial site of German division, located in the middle of the capital. Situated at the historic site on Bernauer Strasse, it extends along 1.4 kilometers of the former border strip. The memorial contains the last piece of Berlin Wall with the preserved grounds behind it and is thus able to convey an impression of how the border fortifications developed until the end of the 1980s. The events that took place here together with the preserved historical remnants and traces of border obstacles on display help to make the history of Germany's division comprehensible to visitors.
