Notes from the Last Meeting: Past Pres Greg Thompson chaired the meeting as David Stagg is unwell and has been taken to the hospital. (Thankfully, his condition is less serious than first thought and his stay will only be about 5 days). The Farmers Market last Saturday was short on volunteers and the weather was not great. So the BBQ was cancelled, however, $493 was collected at the gate, thanks to Danny and Ron. It was noted by Alan that it is important that sufficient volunteers are available for future Farmers Markets. Members should place it in their diaries as it typically raises $1,000 at a time and is our bread and butter fundraiser. November 5 th is the next one. As Bronwen mentioned, We have been doing the Farmers Market for 11 years and it is a very important fundraiser for our Club. Victor provided an update on ARTOBER and Art Show with all arrangements progressing well. Ben said the set-up of screens for Art Show will be on Sunday 23 rd or Saturday 22 nd October and a few more volunteers are needed. Danny talked about the need for more volunteers for raffle sales roster, moving into a discussion with Alan regarding the roster for the Art Show itself. The District Governor is visiting on the 19 th of October and we need to be ready for that. Lesley mentioned the following items: Christine Byrne s talk about Rotary Mental Health has been moved from 19 th October to November 2 nd. Partners are welcome. Please advise a few days beforehand for catering purposes. The Daylesford Community Fair is on 20 th November at the Skate Park 12noon to 3pm. Our Club has agreed to do the icy poles and a sausage sizzle. Volunteers requested. The Board Meeting has been deferred from this Thursday to next Thursday 13 th October at 5.30pm. Venue to be confirmed. 21 st October our Club has agreed to do a street sausage sizzle sponsored by The Advocate. Volunteers were organised. Joe Rozen mentioned that the Run For The Willow Committee met recently and planning is on track for January 2017 with our Club involvement. The Sunday Market count of people coming in has been deferred. To be advised. The Chocolate Roll is being worked on and a Community Grant from Council is being sought. A Club Forum was then held with several issues raised: Bronwen asked that we continue our commitments to International with the Vietnamese Students and also Rotary Foundation Month in November with our donation. Peter raised the benefits of setting up an on-line system for keeping track of rosters and who is doing what. Andrew advised that he is working on the idea of a Dinner Dance with the aim of getting a feasibility report to Board. Ian mentioned the Lake Daylesford Chinese Interpretive project and options for funding were discussed. Peter raised the opportunities to access funding from the Tourism Victoria s $150 million fund. Victor advised that the Club Projects table will be updated and circulated for members to check so that we can brief the District Governor. Greg raised the issue of encouraging partners to join Rotary and the issues around the cost and possible discounts/subsidising. Clubs may

change their fees to recognise diversity of membership. However, the Club needs to raise funds to cover any subsidies. The possibility and benefits of bringing back meeting raffles and fine sessions were discussed. Mark suggested that we need to better promote what we do as a Club to the Community and that should help to attract more members. Bronwen and Lesley will check on the status of the Trotts Night which apparently will be on Friday 21 st October and advise members. Stand in President Greg concluded the meeting in a timely manner at 8.15pm. Shire CEO, Aaron Von Egmond, & Victor Artober Opening Night A BIG BIG THANK YOU to Tina @ The Convent Gallery for sponsoring us and donating Altar Bar at The Convent Gallery to have the official opening of Artober and The Daylesford Art Show. It was a great venue and an amazing way to kick off ARTOBER. We also want to thank Catherine King who officially opened the month long event. Hostess Tina behind the bar. Catherine King opens Artrober.
